Ashley Covers Announcement (10/31/10)- Happy Halloween, KidPub! & Important Updates.

Hey everyone! As most of you know, here in California, United States, Halloween is today! YES, FREE CANDY!! -ahem- So! I hope you're enjoying your Halloween to the fullest.

I've been, well, grounded, again. My grades have been improving, but my parents are angry that my math grade is a C- and it hasn't been improving much. Sorry for all of this inactivity and delays that's been going on with me, but I'm trying to figure out my life, and, quite frankly, teenage puberty. :U Woohoo. Anyways! Here's updates on the KP magazine and Ashley Covers!

KP Magazine

Only 10 more pages to go! WOOT! I'm currently editing and doing all the fancy smancy stuff to the magazine website, though now that I'm grounded, I'm not completely sure when it'll be done. I'm sorry it's taking sooo long!

Ashley Covers

I'm afraid I'm closing Ashley Covers for now. Yep, it's officially closed. Will it be open later on? Perhaps, but here's the reasons why.

1. Life issues that prevent me from getting things done.
2. Copyright issues. You see, the other day, I asked my very intelligent and worldly tutor about what she thought about Ashley Covers. She said that she thought it was a great, inspiring idea, except for one thing. She said it wasn't legal to use even supposed "copyright-free" pictures in covers, because the minute the photographer sees their photo in a work that they weren't notified about, they have the right to sue me. And even if they said that photo could be used to personal, un-published use, if one of the people I make a cover for decides to use that for their publishing cover without me asking the photographer about it... then it's perfectly legal to sue me as well. When people say that they want to use a cover I make for them as their actual published book cover, I *do* try to contact the photographer about it. However, they don't always respond. And even if they don't respond and the cover is published, they still have the right to sue me. Thus, I've decided that unless the cover is originally yours, the cover-making world is quite a dangerous one.

I may re-open Ashley Covers when I get a tablet! That way I can make my own, original covers and won't have to think about copyright issues!

Signatures?

Indeed, signatures! I may be doing small things in the near future, like signatures and profile icons, instead of book covers!
