Future Quest – The Kingdom, Do You See It? – Day 1
Future Quest is a fun place for kids to go over the summer and learn about God and all that he does for us and how WE can make a difference in the world. There are three days in which kids of the ages 8 and up can gather to pray, eat, play games, tell people about the Lord, listen to music, hang out with friends and Praise The Lord. I, personally, went the first two nights, and while there is plenty to do during the beginning of the day from 12:00 – about 6:00 in the afternoon, most of the life-changing things happen between 6:45 and 10:15pm.
The first night I went with my mom and I hung out around the Church, lounging in the DJ room. At about 6:45 we met up with a friend from school and entered the Sanctuary for The Message.
We had Worship with an awesome Praise Band called Cedar and then a ‘Surprise’ Speaker came to talk to all 250 of us in the Sanctuary. His name was Monty Hipp and he was probably the most sico adult I have ever met. He absolutely loves teenagers and he is a life-changing man.
We were not ordered to take notes on the speaker, but it was requested. I took some notes, but Monty was just so hilarious that I was laughing more than writing! Here is what I took;
~~~WHAT TO PURSUE IN LIFE~~~
*Ethics
*Truth
*Faith, Faithfulness
*Passion – determined on the inside
“Pursue what you know is good and right.”
[end of notes]
Near the end Monty asked all of us the stand up and pray to the Lord [out loud, in front of everyone] and ask him to help us through our life and to guide us. When everyone began to pray out loud I did too, but I started crying and sputtering and I could hardly talk! I was tingling everywhere and I felt extremely warm. This was what it felt like to feel God inside of you. Tears were flowing down my face, and I didn’t care. I could hardly feel, I could hardly see. By the time we were done I was tingling all over and I felt as if someone was smothering me with love.
That first night changed my life forever and I wrote this right after I had that feeling; “You can change from laughter to tears in a matter of seconds when you are with the Lord. You WILL feel his presence as you call out his name, I know you will. . .”
~~HOW TO BE DIFFERENT BECAUSE DIFFERENT IS GOOD!~~
To Do In An Elevator:
When the elevator’s doors are about to open get really close to the doors and stand there with a big smile on your face as soon as they open. Walk in, and instead of turn around and stare up at the ceiling stay facing the other people and look at everyone in the elevator. Smile real big and say, “Hi. How are you today?” When one of the people stare at you and then avoid your eyes by looking down, turn to then and say [after a short pause] “I LOVE your shoes.” Still having the same smile on your face the whole time. Be sure that when you or that person gets out you say, “I sure am gunna miss you!” And that’s what you do in an elevator. ^_^
