How Do You Know You’re Not Dreaming?
How do you know you’re not dreaming,
When something strange happens in your life,
That you just can’t or want to explain?
Can you feel the wind slapping against your face,
As the storm comes nearer,
And as the rain melts into your skin?
How do you know you’re not dreaming,
When a loves one dies,
Or when a terrible sickness strikes?
Can you feel the pain inside,
As you lie in bed,
With horrible thoughts flooding your head?
How do you know you’re not dreaming,
When a madman is chasing you,
And you have nowhere to hide?
Can you feel the fear pulse through your body,
As voices fill your head,
Telling you that you are going to die?
How do you know you’re not dreaming,
As you read this questioning,
Self-answered poem?
The sad truth is,
You don’t know...
The sad truth is,
You could be dreaming right now...
You could be dreaming right now,
Never to wake up again......
