Maryam in A Land Of Desert And Sun |

** This story will be written for no apparent reason; chances are, it'll come across as being a bit raving, but :) **
She - needed - to - breathe -
Was the only thought darting through her brain. Her consciousness could hardly be called so - her mind, though it felt like it was in high overdrive, was completely blank, focused on only one thing -
Getting away.
She swerved and dodged the bullets whizzing past her and jumped over tiny pools of water that occasionally appeared in front of her, looking like collected snatches of moonlight.
But this was her only thought. Her only prayer. Her only goal.
To get away from these chasing her - to escape - to breathe.
Her reflexes got her wrong - she flew outright into a tree branch; a tingling sensation crept over her face as she stumbled once but regained her stride, not looking behind her. A moist feeling became known on her cheek - instinctively, without giving it even a second thought, it was blood. Wiping it away with the kefiyyeh she had around her neck - Ahmad's kefiyyeh - she stopped. She had to. Her nerves and breath were in rags, and unless Israelis had superhuman power along with the mechanical kind, they would be tired too.
Hopefully. They were perhaps ten; she was one, having been separated from her mother, Rabia, and two sisters and younger brother not too long ago. As for Ahmad -
She bit the inside of her cheek. Her brother. Her older brother. The brother that was -
Her thought were abruptly snatched away from her, and her brain went once more into the all-too-familiar drive -
The Hunted.

This is really good,
This is really good, wonderful.

Talent is your left angel and your angel your right.
Is this about the war in
Is this about the war in Palestine?
For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
Yep! You guessed it from
Yep! You guessed it from 'keffiyeh', right?
Actually no. I figured when
Actually no. I figured when you explained the family thing. I live in the J land Maryam. Alot of people from Palestine are here. And they're pretty vehement about teh war too. Very patriotic. Not to offend anyone. I meant it in a good way.
Ich? Sarcastisch? Neeeeee. Uberhaubt nicht.
Me? Sarcastic? Nooooo. Not at all.
Oho. Yeah, Jordan.... No,
Oho. Yeah, Jordan....
No, you're not offending anyone.
Is Jordan bad or something?
Is Jordan bad or something? Why did you phrase it that way?
Ich? Sarcastisch? Neeeeee. Uberhaubt nicht.
Me? Sarcastic? Nooooo. Not at all.
Hahaha, NO, Calla! I was
Hahaha, NO, Calla! I was just acknowledging what you said, don't worry :)
Oh okay. Sorry. It's not my
Oh okay. Sorry. It's not my homeland but I'm still defencive about it. Haha. You know what I just remembered? Back when I was visiting my cuz in the US my cousin, a few of her friends and I were chillin at a park. So one asks where I'm moving, I answer Jordan. Of course I get the where is that question. I say between Isreal and Iraq (because some don't have the geographical knowlage we do). And then one of her "smart" friends, *snicker* he states in a loud know-it-all way, "Don't they have guns there?" I, being the polite person I am, surpress my gales of laughter and reply, "Doesn't your dad have one at home?" So her gets real quite. Then a girl says, "Isn't it dangerous?" To which I answer, "Isn't it dangerous walking across the street?"
It was so funny! Everyone looked at me like I was a freak and my cuz was embaressed but it was worth it. I still laugh when I think of it.
Ich? Sarcastisch? Neeeeee. Uberhaubt nicht.

Haha, geographical
Haha, geographical knowledge. Hee hee.
Jeeze, I hate it when people say things in a 'know-it-all' way when it doesn't even make sense. 'Have guns there', hah.
Right? And the isn't it
Right? And the isn't it dangerous always cracks me up too. OH! Another no-brainer that people ask. One time, I was talking to someone and the J land moving thing came up. So I tell her I'm moving to Jordan and SHE *breaks down laughing* says, "Isn't that in europe?" Questions like that always make me laugh. Or, my personal fav. "In the desert? Do you have to live in a tent? Or ride a camel?" *Loses it*
Ich? Sarcastisch? Neeeeee. Uberhaubt nicht.
Me? Sarcastic? Nooooo. Not at all.
oh, my GOSH.
oh, my GOSH. hahaha!!
Europe! How ridiculously ignorant can people get???
Oh, NO. I live in Saudi Arabia, hun, that's where it all STARTED. haha!!
