October 18, 2004 Dear Diary,

I didn't go to school today. I should have but I didn't. Dad and Mom are gone. Dad's been gone since the night of the fight. Mom came back for a few hours early this morning with a major hang over. She kept mumbling about how she left her keys in the car, though they were really in her hand. I've never seen a drunk person before. She'd just sort of wobble, mumble, and tumble. She threw up, too.

I don't know where Matt is. He might be in his room, he might be at school, or he might have been abducted by aliens. Who knows?

I've just been in my room. I know it's against the rules to skip school and all, but I really don't care. Infact, I couldn't care less. I wonder if any one noticed I was gone? Robin, Charlene, and Amy probably did. Not Lindsay, though. She's too self absorbed and snooty for us now.

Somehow, my cat snuck into my room. My door was locked, so I don't know how. Maybe he's just been in here as long as I have and I was to scared to notice. He's a really cute cat. His face, tail, ears, and paws are dark brown. The rest of him is a cream color. I think he's part siamese. He's always here to make me feel better. I still miss Sam, but Pip is one good friend.

"Alicia..." Oh no. No no no. Not him. It's Matt. He's outside my door. Okay, I'll just stay quiet. Maybe he'll think I'm not here. "Alicia, can I talk to you?" Don't say anything. Don't say anything.

Uh oh, Pip's going towards the door. "Meow! Meow!" Stupid cat. Why won't he ever shut up?

"Alicia, I know you're in there." Don't speak. Don't speak. "Listen, I just need to say I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you and whatever. Friends?" I am not speaking.

Matt paused and sighed. "C'mon, Alicia. Open up. I'm not going to yell at you." Whatever I do, I'm not opening up that door. Never!

Matt's walking downstairs. Good. Hey, the door just slammed. Finally. I hope he never come's back. You know, he really drives me crazy. One time, he... AAAAA!!!!!

"Hey, open up your window!" Okay, Matt climbed up a tree and is right out side my window. Oh no. Oh no. Darn. He can see me, too. Let me think, how can I get rid of him?

BAM!

Oh my god! He just threw a rock through my window! He's unlocking it! Shoot, he's coming in.

"Sorry, Alicia. Next time you should open your door."

"Go to..."

"Listen, I really am sorry. I guess I just sort of freaked out. Anyways, without Mom and Dad, we should stick together, right?"

"No."

"Okay, let me just explain something. I don't know what you saw, but..."

"But what? What on earth could any of it mean besides what it obviously does? Huh?"

"Well...nothing, I guess."

"Mm-hmm!"

What happened next shocked me. Matt started crying. He actually started crying! With that, he started telling me about his sessions with Doctor Bob, people at school, and what he did behind our backs. I felt like crying myself. He talked about the first time he did drugs, when he bagan getting suicidal, and how much he hates everything.

After a while he stopped. I can't be sure if he paused for a minute or a year. Everything just seemed to freeze. I forgot about school, parents, and all that stuff. All I could think about was Matt.

Finally, he lifted up his head. "So, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for everything I've done to you, Mom, Dad, and all them." He looked staight into my eyes. I couldn't be sure if it was a gaze or a glare. The look was filled with remourse and sadness. Pitty filled my heart. Then something hit me. He was still the same person. He was still that guy who laughed at my failure and missery. He was still that guy who hated everything and everything hated him. He was still that guy who killed my beloved Sam.

Hatred filled my eyes. "I don't care about you being sorry! It's not going to make a difference. I HATE you!" I couldn't believe what came out of my mouth.

His eyes blazed with fire. "You know what? I hate you, too! I wish that you were dead!" Then, he lunged forward. I don't know what he was planning to do, but I ran. I flew to the door, unlocked it, and sped down the stairs with a cussing brother at my heels. Of course, I had the misfortune of falling down the stairs. Matt tripped over me and tumbled down, too. Once I hit the bottom, I sprang up and leapt out the front door. Matt cursed as I ran.

This time, he followed me. When we were right outside, I came to a screeching hault and sped back in to the house. I locked the door and ran to the phone. My fingers dialed my mom's cell phone. It rang and rang, but she didn't pick it up. Then, I dialed 911. At least I know they'll always be there.

"Hello. This is the City Emergency Department. How may I help you?" Questioned a woman's voice.

"Mybrother'sgonnakillmeandIdon'tknowwhattodo!"

"Slow down, Miss."

Very, very slowly, I said, "My bother is going to kill me and I do not know what to do."

"Miss, we don't appriciate prank phone calls." With that, she huing up. Prank phone calls? Did that sound like a prank phone call?! They seriously need to hire some better people for that job.

It didn't really matter though. Matt was gone. He must have just took off when he saw me going for the phone. Huh, he forgot his shoes.

So, now I'm hiding in a cabinet in the kitchen. Oh well, it could be worse. Like if Bigfoot broke into my house and tried to kill me while a three-headed mutant took over the world. That would be worse, right? Actually, that would be pretty cool.
