Charlotte By: Danny Hydrick

Way back when there were slaves,
A woman named Charlotte saves them all from the graves.
A slave girl owned by a Georgian man
whipped so hard she would have ran
and when that slave girl finally cracked
She ran from those who hate the blacked.
As a tear ran down her cheek
She knew what to seek.
Charlotte followed the Drinking Gourd
to escape the whiteman's horse.
She ended up in Pennsylvania
Welcomed by the Quakers.
They had a girl whose name was Mary,
beautiful she was very
Charlotte's stay came to an en'
when she was caught by two white men
Charlotte was to be carried home.
Back to the Georgian Man
When little Mary asked "Wheres home Charlotte?
From a trembling mouth came, child , my home is way down south.
Everybody said their partings and Charlotte was gone...
Forever gone, Forever more
