Chapter One
That night Nita slept restlessly, her sleep tossed with dreams and worry. Worry about her friends and, most of all, worry about her parents. Finally, she woke at midnight and lay awake, staring up at the glow-in-the-dark stars her seven year old self had stuck to the ceiling. Somehow, her younger self had managed to attach them with some kind of super glue. But inside, Nita had a soft spot for those stars, that seemed to glow just for her in her bedroom, late at night. Just for her. A small corner of the world, just for her. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stepped carefully out of her room.
