Once upon a time there lived a beautiful golden retriever named Goldie. She was owned by two children named Pamela and John. Goldie loved the children and they loved her, too.

One day Goldie had a wonderful litter of 4 pups and how cute they all were!!!! They soon became a bit more bigger and they looked like string balls!! Then Pamela and John named them. One was called Harold, one called Clairabelle, one was Harry and one was Jessica. They grew up to be smart retrievers, but Jessica and Harry grew up to be the smartest ones of all. Goldie, the mother, was so pleased with her pups that she shared her big chicken bones and her other nice treats with them for being such well-behaved dogs.

One of Goldie’s friends was the black hound named Jackie. None of Goldie’s puppies liked Jackie. They all knew that somehow or the other Jackie was a bad dog. They all wanted to prove it to their mother, who would never listen to her children’s advice. The very opportunity came a few days later.

On Tuesday, Pamela and John were allowed to take Goldie and the pups to the small nearby zoo at night. Harry and Jessica thought this was the perfect chance to fool the black hound. They found a small box in which they stuffed some old torn up plastic inside. Then they sealed the box with 5 layers of very old tape they had found. They gave their mother this box and claimed that inside were all the silver coins they had found outside. Their mother was so proud of them that she was going to look into the box when Jessica stopped her and told it was time to go to the zoo. Then Harry took up the chance and told their mother to hide the box somewhere. Goldie at once told her pups to give it to the black hound. This was the chance Jessica and Harry had been waiting for. They went to the black hound’s tiny cave and put the box in his shallow treat hole. Then Harry and Jessica hurried back, home to Harold Clairabelle and Goldie.

All seven of them, including Pamela and John went happily to the zoo. They saw hyenas, leopards, tigers, wolfs, foxes and other interesting animals!!!

Soon it was time to go home after a long interesting time at the zoo. Goldie went herself to the black hound’s cave to collect the package. She soon came back, empty-handed and frustrated. She remained silent until Harold asked what happened. Then she shouted all about the plastic inside the box instead of all the coins that she thought was in there, about how surprised the hound was, about how mad she was and so on. At the end only Jessica had the tongue to answer her mother. She told Goldie about how Harry and she had sealed the box 5 times. Then she asked how the black hound had found out there was plastic inside. Only then did Goldie realize sense was in her daughter’s words. She realized that the black hound must have opened it though he was not supposed to.

She embraced Jessica and Harry into a furry hug. Goldie’s friendship with the black hound ended.

From then onwards Goldie always listened to her pups and felt like the happiest dog on Earth!!!
