This is my english homework. lol. :) hope you like it! I may or may not continue to write this story. Tell me if you think i should or not.
I shuffled slowly into the line behind my best friend, Tom, hot tears trickling down my cheeks. It wasn't fair! I didn't want to go. Tom was crying too, though not as much as me. Our teacher, Miss Black, was babbling on about how it was for the best, and we would enjoy ourselves, but I had convinced myself already that I wouldn't. After she had stopped talking, (thank goodness) we trooped out of the playground in a single file line. as we walked along the pavement, I ran up to Tom and put my arm round him. It's...It's not fair! he cried. " I know." I said bitterly.
We eventually reached the train station. It was packed with children of all ages, bidding tearful farewells to their equally upset mothers. I ran into my mothers arms and buried my face into her silk jumper. I heard her sniffing, which was highly unusual for her, for i had never seen her cry. Miss Black watched us impatiently, looking at her watch every five seconds and tapping her foot. Once everyone had finished saying goodbye to their parents, Miss Black ushered us all onto the train. I fell into the first empty seat i saw, and Tom sat down in the seat next o me. I stared out of the window, waving wildly at my mother until she dissapeared into the distance. I watched the tall buildings speed by, until I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
When i woke up, the first thing i saw was the colour green. I rubbed my eyes in bewilderment, then sat up in sudden realization. We were in the countryside! "Tom! Tom!" I said, shaking my freind, who had his nose buried in a book ( as usual). He looked up angrily, annoyed that i had disturbed him from his story. "look!" I said excitedly, bouncing up and down in my seat. He looked, and his expression transformed into one of amazement. "wow!"he whispered. "look at all those trees!" "I know!" I replied happily. Then i remembered what I had left behing. My joyous expression turned sour, and i stopped bouncing with excitement. we were disturbed by Miss Black yelling "we're here! get your bags everybody!" Then the train stopped.
We were lined up in the town hall, people interrogating us and asking questions. I stood next to Tom. no-one seemed to be coming to me or him, for some reason. A tall man with a long trench coat and short ginger hair strode up to me. "what's your name?" he asked sharply. When I didn't answer, he walked away; he obviously didn't like the quiet type. We stood there for over half an hour, Tom and I waiting for someone else to come to us. Finally, when we thought everyone had gone, a young woman with long blonde hair and deep blue eyes strolled up to us. "hello." she said. "what are your names?" "he's James and I'm Tom" blurted Tom. "and where are you from?" This time it was my turn to answer. "London,Miss." "ah, London." she said, and walked away again. Tom sighed."she looked nice, too." he said. "hey, maybe if we don't get picked, we could go back to London!" he whispered. I was about to tell him that that wasn't going to happen, Miss Black strode in front of us. "boys, you're going to live with Miss Cooper, here." That was probably the first and definetly the last time I had seen Miss Black smile.
