Flight

The dragon stretched her huge wings as she began to trot, a cold breeze biting into her face.

Her beautiful turqoise scales rustled in the wind as she gained speed, preparing for the takeoff.

Bluefyre ran as fast as she could for a few paces and then spread her wings. Air instantly filled her wings, making them as bloated as sails. At the same time she rose into the air, flapping furiously to ascend fast.

Then she closed her eyes in happiness as the flying became easier. It was a sunny day, great for flying because the warm air currents were easy to glide on. Bluefyre looked down at the land laid down before her, observing the mountains in the north and the sparkling Star Bay down in the southeast. And right below her was the forest, filed with birches, oaks, yews, and elms; the largest forest in the entire country.

The dragon suddenly heard a roar. It came from behind her. She snapped her head around and looked.

Uh oh.

A gigantic male. And he did not look very friendly. He was covered with battle scars, and he was missing his right eye. The male's wing looked like swiss cheese to Bluefyre; she spiraled and flew faster.

It seemed like hours before she lost the male.

She finally did, and began to descend. Bluefyre had had enough for one day.
