forty years ago (my july contest entry)

now forty years ago. I landed on the moon. here is my storie. it was a cold kind of morning when the phone rang at four in the mourning I answard "hello jack speaking" "yes" answeared the other end " we are ready for loanching come as quick as you can" yes sir" I said then hung the phone up. it was the day we would try to go to the moon. I quickly got dressed and jumped in the car as I drove it felt like I had forgotten somthing I checked my pockets no I got everything. ahhhhhhhh I le tout a sigh of relief finally at like what had felt like hours I was finally at the space station I drove in and jumped out of  my car a man came runing out of the station and grabed my arm and pulled me in" what took you so long" "well I answeared " I got here as quick as I could......."ok ok" the man butted in "just go and  get ready NOW" this made me run as fast as I could when I got into the station another man came over to me " all right mate over there go get ready" I scrambled over to the room witch the man had pointed at I opened the door and then I saw the two other men that where going to the moon with me. one man came over to me and said "hello I hear that you are going to be the one to step out of the space ship first right" 'yes" I replied  "I am jack milliken"  "ok nice knowing you " he said as he walked away" I stood there for a second shocked at what the man had just said to me. then another person walked up to me "oh pay no  Attention to those poeple they just want to make us feel like this is are last day on the planet " guess your right I said so whats your name"  "ahhh I was hoping you would ask me that well  I'm Buzz aldrin but you can just call me buzz and your name"  " jack millikens my name but you can just call me jack " " alright  well see ya shortly I just have to do somthing buzz said as he walked out of the room. finally sombody I can trust. line up every body a person said so me and all the other astronaut as a man inspected us to make sure we were all dressed right and ready to go. when he was done he yelled ok the apollo 11 is ready to start your mission well every body follow me the man lead us out side and right to the spot witch the apollo 11 stood "ok every body in" he yelled and we all rushed in and took are places and then buzz closed the hatch  I took the controlls and buzz  took his and the other man took his "oh I said now whats your name" " oh my name mike "  "ok I  answeared nice to meet you mike"  then I could hear somthing out side  it sounded like numbers ahhh I got it its the  coint down now we could hear it clearly 10.9.8.7.6.5.4.3.2.1. blast off I held on as tight as I could as the rocket want flying right up I could see through the window all the clouds that we were zooming through. an hour want by and then I looked out the window again by now we were above that blue sky that I had seen so many times on earth now I was surrounded by stars it was an amazing fealing. 'hey mike I said what are we going to eat they never told me" well mike started are you hungry?  "yes I'm starved" ok then here ya go enjoy " mike handed me a thing that look like tooth paste bottle and of course it was full of past "ummmmmmm whats this ? oh buzz answard its are food for the trip I knew you'd like " buzz and mike stared at me as I sucked it out when I was done I said "ugh that taste just like tooth paste mike and buzz sudenly burst out laughing "ha ha ha hee thats because it is toth paste" what you mean you made me eat toth paste" then even I started laughing "ok I said what realy is are food " ok here it realy is " mike said as he handed me a bag green stuff "well eat up mike said its a bag of peas just its ground up " no joking this time I said I eyed  the two they did look serious and the bag was labeled so I decided that they were talking the truth so I got a straw and started sucking I was shocked it tasted fine just like peas freshly picked from the garden. "oh you guys thanks this tastes great" then they looked at each other "well they whispered if he ate it it must be safe ya ok lets eat" oh great I thought they where using me for a food taster. well hours past since we had ate but still somthing kept coming into my head  I kept thinking I had forgotten somthing but I couldn't have just then buzz yelled look look there it is I grabed the microphone and said 'we have the moon in are sight "  great good now you just have to land " yes I know sir and I know how to from my training   good luck and god bless you. now there wasn't any time too talk it was all quiet for the next hour it was hard work working the controls then every body let out a gasp of  relief  we had done it we had landed on the moon 'we did it I yelled into the microphone we landed on the moon I didnt get an answear for a while but I could hear everbody chearing and then "good job now do what you where trained to do over" ok mike shouted jack get on your spacesuit its time to go out and be the first men to walk on the moon!!! mike said this with excitement so I thought I better get that suit on quickly I grabed it and started puting it on but as I  did I got to wondering about did I in fact forget something I thought and thought but still no answear wait I got it it was nothing important it was just my watch finally now I can think with out having to think about what I had forgot now it was time to walk moon. hey buzz can you come over here and help me with my helmet buzz grabed it and put it on my head and then he buttoned me up "ok were all set mike yelled to me then he opened the first door I walk into the tiny room as the door behind me closed the door in front of me opened and there in front of me was the moon I slowly walked out and down the ladder and then the great step I took my foot of the ladder and then put it down on the moons surface I  we had done it we had won the space race. but then I got to work buzz came out a couple of minutes after me took his step onto the moon. well hours past of hard work but finally we were done and now we could have some fun with the fact that the moon has no gravity on the moon me and buzz jumped 20 feet in the air and we ran in what seemed like slow motion well soon I heard buzz say that are time was up and it was time to go home back to earth so we got back in the apollo 11 and in a few hours we were back on earth. now that is pretty much the end of my story the rest is history.
