The Golden Bunny
By Casey Chopp
"Ring, ring," went the phone. An employee who worked at the Natinal Dective Office ansewered the phone and said "How may I help you." The woman on the other end of the phone had repiled by saying, " My golden bunny staute is lost."
"Oh, I'll be there in just one minute," replied the NDO (Natinal Dective Office) employee known as Shelia. Just to inform you that the woman on the other end is named Patty. I will be using that name often. Shelia asked Patty about when she noticed it was gone. Patty had replied by saying "I noticed it was gone when I went to turn on my washer.
"Odd," said Shelia.
"Yes I know," replied Patty acting if she was a dective.
" I will be back about 11:01 and thirty-two seconds A.M." As you can tell Shelia is very percise. Yet she was, right on the dot. Shelia asked more questons. "How old were you when you got the bunny staue."
"I was ten. My aunt had gotten it for me."
"Oh, O.K," said Shelia. "So do you think somebody stole it."
"Why of course I do. Why wouldn't I."
" So how old are know. You don't have to ansewer if you don't want to."
"Oh, I am 37 to be exact. But whoever stole it must be far away."
" Yes. I think so too."
" Shelia, do you only agree with people say?"
" Well, yes, see well, no. I DON'T KNOW? Well just let me solve this mystery not me agreeing with everything people say."
"So, whoever stole it may have put it on Ebay," thought Patty.
"WELL, LET'S LOOK ON EBAY!" said Shelia.
"Nope, not there," replied Patty.
"Well, I think we should put up lost bunny poster signs" said Shelia. "Do you have any pictures of the Golden Bunny statue?" she asked Patty.
"I have one," replied Patty.
Silence.
"WELL, CAN I SEE IT THEN," shouted Shelia.
"Why, yes you can, just let me go get it," replied Patty.
"Just be super fast!" yelled Shelia as Patty ran off towards her bedroom.
"I know just where it is," said Patty.
"Great! Good!" cheered Shelia.
While Patty was getting the picture, Shelia was logging on to the computer and getting Microsoft Word up.
Then Shelia started to make the lost bunny posters so she could print some out.
Patty came back with the picture, and Shelia asked Patty to get more pictures copied of the bunny statue. Shelia stayed behind at the house making the posters. When Patty finally got home from copying the pictures at Walgreens, Shelia was just finishing up the posters.
"So, how many copies did you make?" asked Shelia.
"I made 27 copies," replied Patty.
"Why, how many posters were you able to print out?" asked Patty.
"I got 28 of them done before I ran out of paper," replied Shelia.
"Let's start gluing your pictures on the posters," said Shelia as she got the glue out of her desk drawer.
"Sure," said Patty. After 2 1/2 hours, they were finally finished. Then it was time for lunch, and afterwards they went outside and started hanging up the posters around town.
Everybody asked what they were hanging up. "They are lost and found signs. Please make sure you read them carefully so you will know what to look for", they both replied. When people read the poster, everyone was saying " Boy, nope, I haven't seen a golden bunny statue. What IS a golden bunny statue?"
"Well, do you really like the Golden Bunny statue? Shelia asked Patty.
"Yes, it means alot to me, because it reminds me of my aunt who passed away."
"I'm sorry to hear that" said Shelia.. "That's ok, everybody talks about it" said Patty.
"Ring, ring".
Shelia went and answered the phone. "Hello?"
When the person on the other end talked, Shelia realized that it was just a salesperson.
"DANG!" said Patty.
"I don't think we're going to find it right away," said Shelia.
"I just want it back," said Patty in a sad voice.
"If you don't mind, I'm just going to run home for a few minutes," said Shelia, "so that I can check on my dogs, since I have been here quite a while today."
"Go right ahead" exclaimed Patty. "I really appreciate all the time you have already spent with me, helping me to find my Golden Bunny statue."
"While you are going to let out your dogs, I am going to sit by the phone and wait for someone, anyone, to call about the statue."
Once Shelia came back to Patty's house, they continued to sit around the phone hoping someone would call with information.
Later that evening, it was time for Shelia to go home. "Well, Bye, I'll be back tomorrow at 12:01 PM, and fifteen seconds, on the dot, just to let you know." replied Shelia as she walked out the door and down the street to her house.
The next day, she showed up at Patty's house, right on the dot.
"Ok, I have another question for you Patty. Did you look around the washer?"
"Why, no, I didn't. I should've though" answered Patty.
"Maybe we should go look there", suggested Shelia. So they did.
"Hey! Look Shelia! I found it!"
"Great! You found it. Awesome! Cool!" Shelia yelled.
So Shelia told Patty to always keep her laundry room neat and tidy. Patty said she would. But did she keep the laundry room clean? That's the real question....
