HAUNTED HILL
by Alexandra
One windy cold day in November, a boy named JC and a girl named Ashley went up on the top of Haunted Hill. JC and Ashley were brother and sister. JC was 12 and Ashley was 11. No one has ever dared to go on top of Haunted Hill because the story has been told that ghosts live up on Haunted Hill, and if you go up there, you won’t be seen again.
Their parents were not going to be home until 1:30 in the morning, so they packed a couple of snacks, flashlights, mittens, coats, hats, wrist watches, and drinks to be prepared for their adventure. So they put on their coats, hats and mittens, then grabbed their flashlights and put on their backpacks, and walked out the door.
Haunted Hill was as tall as 106 feet high! So they climbed higher and higher. But the higher they got the colder and stormier it got. When they got to the top they saw a light in the room next to the door. They held hands and closed their eyes, then rang the doorbell. Nobody answered. They waited frantically. Then, suddenly the door creaked open. We peaked inside. Then suddenly, I pulled JC back so fast the he fell down! “What did you do that for, Ashley?” JC asked. “Because I heard someone coming,” I said. “Well you didn’t have to practically knock the wind out of me,” JC complained. “Well, I’m sorry but I didn’t want them to see us.” So we tried again to peak inside. “OK, the coast is clear,” JC whispered. So we went inside the house as quiet as a mouse. Each step we took made a creaking noise. “Go slower!” I said to JC. “You shouldn’t be talking, you’re the one going so fast!” JC muttered.
All of a sudden the lights went out! I was just about to scream but JC covered my mouth. “Now what are we supposed to do?” JC asked me. “Why are you asking me?” I asked, puzzled. “Because I thought you were in charge,” JC said selfishly. “No, I never said that,” I snotted back. Slam! The door shut on its own behind us. Now it was really getting scary.
We started to walk toward the crack of a light behind the door. We looked inside, the shower was running. JC started to walk toward the shower and I pulled him back. “What now?” JC asked. “What in the world are you doing? We don’t know what or who is in that shower,” I said. “Well, one of us is going to have to go and open the curtain and see what or who is behind that curtain,” said JC. So very bravely he walked towards the shower and opened the curtain. But nobody was in it.
I heard a creak in the floor behind us. “JC, get out of there, someone or something is on to us,” I warned him. So my brother backed up and we started to look around. But we didn’t see anything in the dark. So we walked around but it felt as if we had blindfolds on because we couldn’t see a thing. Now it was really getting creepy. I felt as if someone was breathing down on my shoulders. “I have an idea, lets use the flashlight to help us see where we are walking,” I said. So we took it out and turned it on. I pointed it everywhere to look around. “Wait, stop waving that so fast around the room,” JC said. “Why?” I asked. “Because I saw something.” So I went to the shower and suddenly I saw something too. It was writing on the wall. It said: Get out of here or you’ll pay. So we dropped the flashlight and ran home.
When we got home we put our pj’s on and went to bed. “Do you hear that?” I asked JC. “Hear what?” “The shower is running,” I said frightened. “Oh no, here we go again,” we said at the same time!
The End.
