He and JC

He was small for his age, tiny, really. A scrawny 63 pound eleven-year old, not exactly considered the "tough guy" in town. No one teased him really, but no actually noticed him either. The boy had only 1 friend, JC.

Many people considered him to be wierd because of how close he was to JC. He talked to him almost constantly, and when he wasn't talking to him, he was reading the notebook they shared.

The notebook was kind of ho-hum, plain red, the kind that has a divider so you can put 2 subjects in it. It had mostly writing from JC, but the boy had scribbled down a few notes here and there. Anyone could tell the notebook was important to him , but no one realized what it really was- his lifeline.

Family life was hard for this boy. 3 brothers, 4 sisters, it was anything but "cozy". With little time for him, his parents saw him more as one of the kids than as an individual.Being one of the younger siblings, the older kids often got to go out with friends, leaving their younger brother with chores that needed to be done. Of course he could just not do them, but he was a kind person and realized how hard it was for his parents, even without extra chores and no one to do them. Still, no matter how busy he was with chores and homework, he always managed to get out every Sunday morning to see JC.

One day, as he was walking home from school, he started daydreamming. Not realizing, he walked onto a busy road as a bus came. The next thing he saw was JC's face.

At first, the boy could hardly hear him. The mumbling grew a little louder, and pretty soon he could make out a word or two. As the voice got clearer, he finally heard words he had sercretly been yearning for all his life;

" Come home, my friend, we have room for you. We want you to stay forever."
And taking his hand, the boy and JC walked to his forever home, where everyone loved him and he was a somebody. Home, with J.C.
