I was walking down the hall one day to my new office after my boss (Mr. Crop) promoted me to the best office in the building. I got there and it was soooo neat and tidy and organized. Just like I had made myself these past few months. I packed all my stuff out of my briefcase and onto my desk. My picture of me and Angie at a carnival, my laminated and framed certificate for the best poems in all three counties that surrounded my own. Finally, the front page cut out of the newspaper from when I had found that dead man in that motel. Mr. Crop walked in. "So, how do you like it?" "It's wonderful," I replied. He smiled and said, "I'll be in my office if you need me and that paperwork on the ten year old missing boy needs to be filled out in order for you to be able to get yourself on the case." "Right." He left the room. A little while later I found something in the paperwork and decided to find Mr. Crop to ask him a question. When I got to his office, he wasn't there, so I tried a numorious amount of different places which I thought he might be. I asked the lady at the front desk and she said she saw him heading for the basement on the first floor. I got there and it was really dark. "Mr. Crop? You in there? Mr. Cro-" I was cut off because I saw him walking around with a phone in his hands. I closed the door slightly so he wouldn't see me. "Yeah, no I don't know how she did it. Yeah yeah Joe I wore gloves. No there was nothing that could have lead her to it. Yeah well I'll see you tomorrow at that stupid Cafe. Yes nine o'clock I know. Alright then." He hung up. I closed the door and acted like I was about to come out of the elevator. Mr. Crop walked out. "Oh hello. I just came from the third floor. The woman at the desk said you might be here." "Yeah I was checking the, um, heater down there and other things. The board says everything must be up to fire safety standards. It is so, I'll be getting back to my office. Anything you wanted?" "No, just got worried since you weren't in your office." "Well I'm alright. Oh yeah, you get off today at five fifteen. Mrs. Samson is taking your shift tonight so you get off early." 'Wonderful. Well it's five ten so I'll see you tomorrow." When I got home something was urging me to look into his phone call.
