Just a Painting

The paintbrush gracefully danced across the sheet of paper as the woman began the painting.

The hills seemed to come alive with color.

Trees and bush’s leaves seemed to sway so merrily they could almost come out of the page.

But it was only a painting.

She started on the river, and her brush waved across the painting.

The river seemed to come alive with waves.

It rushed down the narrow valley relentlessly.

The waves almost seemed to crash off the page.

Salmon jumping out if it.

But it was only a painting

She began the sky and her brush swayed in her hand as she painted it.

Clouds coming out like little cotton balls.

The colors were so delicate, so subtle.

Yet they seemed to light up the room.

But it was only a painting.

As she stepped back to take a look at all she’d done-

The sky, the river, the hills-

She-almost silently- whispered to herself

“This is more than just a painting.”
