Living in Terror Part 1

The day that terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, I was at school. It was just like a normal day. I was sitting in French class going over "passe compose". Suddenly over the intercom our vice-principal made the announcement: "There have been rumors going around this school that the United States has been bombed. This is not true. What happened was planes have crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. We will let you know if anything else happens. We will resume class as normal unless told to cancel."

When I heard that announcement I started crying but the other people in my class were laughing about it. Mostly the guys were laughing and I thought "Why are they laughing? This isn't funny."

One of my friend's, Eden, whispered to me that her homeroom teacher's son worked at the Pentagon. "Oh my gosh!" I said. "I hope he's okay."

Two weeks had gone by. It was Tuesday the 25th and I was talking to my friends, Eden and Lakesha, and my boyfriend Tyler. "I can't believe this. It's like gonna be World War Three, isn't it?" Lakesha wailed.

"Who knows?" I said. "I hope that we can handle it though. It seems like the Afghanistan people have a death wish. Why can't they just hand that guy over?"

Tyler interuppted. "That wouldn't solve anything. He has more guys on standby here."

To be continued...
