The moon lit sky glittered like a firefly. The open path stretched on and on to who knows where and they trudged on in silence for many miles.

“I am unfamiliar with this territory.” father said as he stopped to take the map out of his knap sack. The map was in appalling condition. Father spread the map out on the ground. He searched desperately for their location on the map. However, father could not find it.

Rumble, Rumble! Mark and his father (merchant Okla) felt the ground beneath them shake and then it gave way. They tumbled through the darkness. Mark hit the ground hard, but sighed in relief, at least he was not dead. Father shook the dirt off himself and walked over to a wall with many Hieroglyphics on it.

“Incredible!” father said.

“What’s incredible?” Mark replied while he tried to look up from where he had fallen.

“These wall murals, they’re unbelievable. The hieroglyphics state that there is some creature in here. It indicates that the creature was sent to protect this tomb”

“Please not a mummy again!” Mark reached out to cover his eyes. Father stood firm prepared for anything. Again the ground began to rumble, the two braced themselves for what they thought was certainly another fall. Suddenly the sound stopped. Okla turned his head to follow the sound and spotted a light. It was a way out. The two climbed to the opening and pried themselves out of the tomb.

Awaiting them was “Bull” and “Old Bruiser”. Merchant Okla was relieved to see his trusty steed. “Its just the horses” father said as Mark pulled himself onto the path. “I wonder what spooked them.”
