Chapter Two: Moving?
We had decided on Hollywood Brown Derby in the Hollywood Studios. It was about a 15-minute ride over to Hollywood Studios.
Thank goodness I didn’t have the same experience with a Disney’s Magical Express Bus to Hollywood Studios.
It almost hit me last year!
When we arrived, we took a route up to Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat, where a High School Musical parade was going on. To avoid the crowd, we walked over to Playhouse Disney Live On Stage, and entered Hollywood Brown Derby from the side.
We all entered and Rob walked over to the podium where a waitress was seating different groups of hot and sweaty tourists.
“Reservations for…” Rob paused.
We had no idea what our reservations were under!
However, this time, it wasn’t Tom’s fault.
Long story.
“Jenna, what are our reservations under?” Rob whispered to Jenna so that the waitress couldn’t hear.
“Ima Doofoss,” Jenna answered.
“Ima Doofoss!” Rob told the waitress.
The waitress started to laugh. I started to laugh. Gwyn broke out in a giggling fit. Jenna tried to keep a strait face. Sugar and Spice still had a few jokes up her sleeve.
“Hey, wait a second,” Rob was just starting to process what he just said.
“It’s under Miller,” Jenna said, still trying to get over her newly crafted joke.
Rob groaned. He had figured it out.
“Miller, party of five” he mumbled.
“Right this way,” the waitress said, leading us into a grand, and dim lit restaurant area.
We all were seated in a large, round, booth-like table.
The waitress handed us all menus.
“So, Ms. Doofoss, anything you would like to say about your recent identity theft?” Gwyn asked sarcastically.
“No,” Rob answered. He shifted in the booth and put down his menu. He looked nervous. “But, there is something else, and it is not of a laughing matter.”
“Okay, Charles Dickens, what is ‘not of a laughing matter’?” I asked, once again being sarcastic.
“Well, um,” he shifted in his seat again. “I was going to wait to say it until after the trip but I’ve got you hanging now, so here it goes. I’m… moving to Louisiana before the start of high school.”
He just came right out and said it. Flat out, no buts or ands, just plain old, I’m moving.
We all stared at him.
“At least we’ll share hurricane seasons! Hasta la bye bye!” Leah said, staring at her phone, texting.
No wonder she didn’t like Rob.
Gwyn jabbed her in the ribs.
“Yowsers!” She yelled, her phone flying through the air.
“What do you mean, you’re moving? Why the pancakes are you moving to Louisiana?” I yelled.
“Because, my dad, he’s a weatherman, like all of you know, and, he got a good job offer in Louisiana! It wasn’t my choice! I would’ve spoke my mind if he would have let me!” Rob defended himself.
“I don’t care what he’ll let you do, just do what you’ve got to do!” I was mad.
“You know what, I tried. Stop being a bad friend! I told him the only reason I wanted to stay was because I didn’t want to lose my best friend! He said there would be other friends, but I told him it would never be the same!” Rob was mad at me now.
“You two! Stop it! T.J., Rob, we are here to have some fun before we go to high school! Now, enjoy the time you guys have together, here. You guys will always be able to stay in touch,” Jenna tried to calm us down.
Rob sighed. “T.J., I’m sorry. Let’s just have some fun. Here, and now. We have a lot of memories with each other, and a lot more to come.”
I sighed. “Your right. So, let’s make a memory tomorrow. How about we go to a park? I can’t stay mad at you forever. Even though I don’t like at all what is going to happen, I’m willing to put it off until the trip is over.”
We smiled at each other.
“Sorry.”
“It’s not your fault,” I said. “Friends?” I asked.
“Friends,” he answered.
