Parting Shadows
It is so far away,
And it’s no laughing matter
Because if someday,
I disappear
You will face it alone
Staring into the deep forest
You know that it is true
Although my hands are tied,
Their warmth lingers barely
And even though you held them
You didn’t untie the knot
The sound of the bells
Ringing so far away
To that place,
You must go alone
Even though we walk
Side by side
It feels as though we are alone
Our disassembled voices
Are quite broken
Two pairs of eyes,
Are downcast
But there is only one shadow
When it is my time, remember,
I will go alone as well
You have stumbled into,
A faint trace of love
Like sweet flowers on a cliff,
“I cannot quite reach it…”
But you truly know
Next time,
You must go there alone
Reaching out for the sound
It is yours to take,
Alone
It is so far away,
Nothing to laugh about
That I will admit,
But still, if someday
I disappear
You must go alone,
To that cliff
I have felt the solitude
I have felt as it erodes away
Your every strength
But just remember,
When it is my time,
I will go alone as well
I cannot stand by you forever
We knew it from the start
Our shadows slowly parted
They eyes still downcast
Having now disappeared
You must face the forest
On your own
It will be the end
Of that story,
Of you and me
You must go alone there…
