A/N: Okay, here are the reasons. Very random reasons.
(a) I like the word plethora. I learned it! :D Aren't you proud of me?!
(b) It's not very much of a plethora (person from audience: BOOOOO!) (me: go away.). In fact, it's from my writing notebook, butttt here it is!
(d) I'm back and writing! :)
Here comes the plethora! (of writing quotes)
Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuun...
A Plethora of Writing Quotes
- The number one thing I am earnestly attracted to is intellegence. Writers are thus the pinnacle of intellegence. While actors are great and awesome, writers literally create new worlds from scratch. What is [hotter] than that? Personally, I don't know why every person out there isn't dating a writer. - Rachel Bloom
- ---
- There are many reasons why novelists write--but they all have one thing in common: a need to create an alternative world. -John Fowles
- ---
- Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer. -Barbara Kingsolver
- ---
- Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted. -Jules Renard
- ---
- Writing is only boring to people who are boing themselves. -Anonymous
- ---
- May I never grow too old to treasure 'once upon a time'. -Anonymous
- ---
- Life is what happens to a writer between drafts. -Damon (aka Dennis R Miller)
- ---
- When my horse is running good, I don't stop to give him sugar. -William Faulkner This is a writing quote, if you can't tell. When I read an interview on Roald Dahl (my favorite author), he said that when he was writing a masterpiece and was doing really good, he stopped. That way he can't take his mind off of his writing and is excited to get back to it later. I think this is the key to keeping interest in your writing. I've tried it--it works for me! :)
- ---
- Be like a duck, my mother used to tell me. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like [heck] underneath. -Michal Caine Yes, this is a writing quote. I think this means that writers look and act like normal people, but inside we're randomaniacs with flipping awesome minds.
- ---
- Write your story as it needs to be written. Write it honestly, and tell it as best you can. I'm on sure that there are any other rules. Not ones that matter. -Neil Gaiman
- ---
- Writing a novel is like heading out over the open sea in a small boat. It helps if you have a plan and a course laid out. -John Gardner*
- ---
- For anyone who is: just keep writing. Keep reading. If you are meant to be a writer, storyteller, it'll work itself out. You just keep feeding it your energy, and giving it that crucial chance to work itself out. By reading and writing. -Robin McKinley
- ---
- Every bush can burn if you fire it with your imagination. -Sanislaw Jerzey Lee
- ---
- The waste basket is the writer's best friend. --Isaac Bashevis
- ---
- And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. -Roald Dahl Ahhh my Dahl, he is an amazing writer. This isn't a writing quote, but isn't it lovely to read it? I think it is from a book. If anyone knows, can they tell me what book it is from?
- ---
- My candle burns at both ends. It will not last the night, but oh my foes and of my friends, it gives a lovely light. -Roald Dahl Not a writing quote, but awesome!
- ---
- The best time for planning a book is when you are doing the dishes. -Agatha Christie
- ---
- If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. -Toni Morrison
And so the plethora ends. Do you guys like it?! :D Please leave a comment below! :) I'd like to hear your feedback. Thanks for reading! :D

Bonus: Something I would like to add to Mr. John Gardner's quote. Here goes! My added part is in brackets below. The longer version, which makes it very long, is in those fancy bracket things with the creasy thing in the middle.
Writing a novel is like heading out over the open sea in a small boat. It helps if you have a plan and a course laid out. [At other times, some people like to hear the wind howling in their ears. They let the wind take them wherever. Occasionally they reach a dead, deserted island (a rotten idea). But sometime later, they reach a paradise with white sand that feels awesome when you let your toes sink in. The leafy greenery are filled with tropical birds and the undergrowth are full with ripe berries. This is obviously a good idea.]{When you want to explore this paradise, you explore your idea. When you put your flag down to mark and seek shelter in this unknown land, the idea is yours. The hardest part is living in it (writing the story). Are you up for the challenge?} -John Gardner. And Lucky.
