Once, there was a woman who wanted a baby girl. Very soon, she got her wish. She called her Harriet (she knew that Harriet was the name of someone who had done good doings.)
***
“Whoa!” said Harriet. It was sixteen years later, and Harriet was riding her jet black horse, Midnight. “That was good jumps, Midnight!” Midnight snorted, and people could suspect it as a laugh. Harriet laughed, too, unaware that in a few minutes she would be on an adventure. Let me tell you something about her. Whenever she wanted to, she just had to want to, and she would be a snake. She could change from a man crushing Anaconda to a harmless garden snake and from a deadly cobra to a wimpy grass snake. Just then her mom yelled from inside the house, “Come quick!” Harriet brought Midnight to her stall. “Why is she so frantic?” thought Harriet. “Maybe she got a letter from dad?” Harriet’s dad had been gone for about eight years. Harriet ran inside. Her mom had been tied up to a chair. Quickly Harriet untied her. All she could say was “Man…in…black….steal….” and then she dropped in a dead faint. “Oh, no!” thought Harriet. “Just like in the books!”
She left her mom a note that said: Dear Mom,
Don’t be scared when you find I’m not here. In fact, I think you should be glad. I’m off to find adventure, and to be a super hero. Of course I remembered to bring my bible and medicine, and also a few extra things. Don’t forget to feed Bubbles*her fish*Midnight, Sarah*her bird* Sweetie *her dachshund*Sally*her salamander* Witchy*her black kitten*. And peanut *her hamster*
Love,
Harriet

Two hours later
Harriet was riding in her Cooper along the highway. She didn’t really know where she was going, but something told her it was the right way and to keep going! She was a bit nervous, but she kept driving. Suddenly, she was up in the air! She rolled down her window and looked up, and there, in broad daylight, was the hugest bird she had ever seen! Its talons were about the size of her, and its body, well, let’s just say it was MONSTERESS! It carried her car higher and higher, with her in it. Then, all of a sudden, it dove straight down, towards a very big castle with tall, tall turrets. Then, for the very first time, Harriet saw the “bird” breath fire. It was no bird. It was a dragon. “Well, what did you expect?” “A bird with six foot claws?” thought Harriet. The dragon burned down the draw- bridge. Then, to a shadow in the corner, he said in a raspy voice “Master, I have brought a guilty one.” As the shadow grew more focused, Harriet saw that it wasn’t a shadow but it was a demon. “Okay.” said Harriet “Now I’m supposed to run home crying?” Then, she said “In the name of the lord, GET LOST!” At the word “lord” the white demon got even whiter and disappeared and the dragon roared and stormed out of the palace. “Well, that takes care of them.” She said, sweeping her hands together. “Now all I have to do is find dad and get the thing the man in black stole.” She said, thinking it would take at least five months to salve one of those tasks. She didn’t know that she would salve one in about two minutes. She walked out into the hall. All of a sudden, she came to a pair of doors. They were locked. She threw herself against them as anaconda. They cracked open. “Hello?” she said, into the clearing dust. She had sworn she just heard something in the darkness. It sounded like someone saying help. She stepped into what seemed like a dungeon. “Hello?” she asked again; now of course a human. She looked at a little mound in the corner. She looked closer. There, in the corner, was…. “DAD!” Yelled Harriet, running over. He was all tied up and he had a beard, but it was still him. “Harriet!” he yelled. Quickly she untied him. He smiled kindly at her. “Thank you, sunshine!” he said. All she could say was “Oh, I missed you, daddy!” He said “I was going along to get some eggs, when suddenly; this giant bird flew down onto me. It took me in the air, high, high above the ground. Then all of a sudden, it dove strait downward! It dropped me as it grew closer to the ground. It smashed the draw-bridge and carried me inside. Then, it brought me here.” She listened intently to him, not wanting to miss a word. After he had finished his story she said “Let’s get out of here before that dragon and demon come back.” He asked “Dragon and demon?! What dragon and demon?!” She sighed and said “The dragon that captured you and the dragons master the demon.” She looked over at him. He was as white as the demon. Then he calmed down a bit. Harriet said “Well, we better get going; hey, dad, didn’t they feed you? I mean, you look a bit like a skeleton.” At this point, he shuddered. “Hardly” he said “that’s one reason why I want to get home.” She said “Um, well, mom might need your help. You see, she fainted before I left. She might need your help getting around.” He listened to her. “Well, lets get home now.” He said. They went out of the dungeon and out of the castle. They got into her Cooper and drove away. Something told her that she was going in the right direction. In a half in hour she and her dad were on the highway. In another half in hour they were at there house. They ran up to there house and rang the door bell. Harriet’s mom answered the door bell. She frowned. She said “Who are you and what do you want?” “Mom, it’s me, Harriet.” said Harriet. Harriet’s mom said “Well, who ever Momitsmeharriet is, tell her to come inside.” Harriet gave her mom a queer look. She came inside. After she came inside and looked around, she saw that her mom’s memory jar was missing. A lump came to her throat. “Oh, no!” she thought. Then she burst out crying. “My, why is the child crying? Is she hurt?” Harriet ran out into the barn. She hugged midnight and said in her horses ear “She could have forgotten to feed you!!!!!” Midnight did look a little skinny and her black coat was speckled with mud. She washed her off and filled four troughs full of oats and four troughs full of apples and eight troughs filled with water. Then she filled four more troughs with carrots. Then she opened her stall door but when she came out of the barn, she locked the barn door tightly. Then she went inside. She went to Witchy’s bed. Witchy lay there quietly. She looked half dead. Harriet filled eight food dishes with cat food and eight water dishes with water. Then she gave her a bowl of shrimp and a kiss on her small little head. Then she went to Peanuts cage. Peanut began chirping like mad. “Hold it, Peanut!” said Harriet, laughing. “I’ll feed you!” She filled three bottles of water up for her, and she filled eight dishes of hamster food up for her. Then she stroked her and ran over to Sally’s bowl. Sally looked up at Harriet with big, innocent eyes. “I know, Sally, I know.” said Harriet. She filled up a peanut butter lid with salamander pellets and put clean water in her bowl. She blew her a kiss and went to Sarah’s cage. Sarah said “hello.” When she saw who it was, she started squawking and yelling “HUNGER! I’M HUNGERY!” “O.K, okay!” said Harriet. She loaded sesame seeds in her dish and filled up her water dish. After that she ran over to Sweetie who was waiting patiently in the corner. She said “Oh, yes you are, you are one of the cutest baby’s in the world!” Sweetie just yapped away. Harriet knew what that meant. She quickly turned into a grass snake and back. “Alright, all feed you.” She said. She poured eight dog bowls full of dog food and eight more dog bowls full of water. Then last but not least, came Bubbles. Bubbles was a goldfish. She just poured a ton of fish pellets in her hand and put that in her tank. Then she knew her job there at the moment was finished. So she told her dad that she had to leave. He wished her luck and said that whenever he had the chance he would give Sweetie a walk, give Sarah her French lessons, get Midnight out for a ride, clean Sally’s bowl, and change Bubbles water. After he promised those things one thousand times, she left. Again, she believed in that tiny sense inside her. She got stuck in a major traffic jam. While the traffic moved on, (it was caused by a HUGE tree falling into the middle of the road) she read from the bible. When she was reading about Jesus (PRAISE HIM!) on the cross the traffic cleared up. So she put a book mark in. Suddenly, her sense told her to drive off into the forest. Willing to try anything, she drove strait into the forest. Police men were curious and tried to follow her, but they soon gave up when they saw a Cobra stick its head out the window. Harriet smiled and pulled her head back in. After scaring those police men, Harriet felt braver. She drove into the forest, not noticing the sign that said; FOREST OF DEATH. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! BEWARE!

One hour later
Harriet was driving towards home. She was done with adventures for that week. It Harriet was driving through the forest when all of a sudden she heard a strange screeching sound. It sounded like nails on a black board. Then she knew what it was. “Banshees!” she thought, seeing a few coming toward her. She turned into every snake she could think of, but nothing worked. Then she remembered what worked on the dragon and demon. She started praying real loud. They heard her and started hollering and ran from Harriet. She snickered. She went through the rest of the forest in peace. When she came to the end of the forest, she gasped. There, at the end of the forest, was a castle even bigger then the one the demon had had. She left her Cooper at the edge of the forest. Harriet walked towards the castle. It was then when she noticed that the castle was guarded by one hundred ogres and six giants. In the air were two hundred dragons and three hundred witches. She just walked right past them. She only just made it by praying. When she was inside, she looked around. There, in the middle of the room, was a HUGE chest. Sitting on top of the chest was the demon. Instead of running away in fright, she stood there and said normally “What’s your name? I didn’t get it last time we met.” The demon hissed “S-S-S-S-Satin.” Then he smiled an ugly, mean smile. She turned into a Black mamba (the most venomous snake in the world) and hissed right back “Oh, s-s-s-o you s-s-s-speak s-s-s-s-snake tone too?” She turned back into Harriet and said “God (PRAISE HIM!) And Jesus (PRAISE HIM!) don’t like bad boys like you.” He had the same reaction as he did earlier on in the story. After he was gone, Harriet climbed up the chest and opened it. Inside was another box. She opened that box. Inside was another box. She kept on finding more and more boxes ‘till the box was the size of a peanut butter jar. She opened that. It was her mom’s memory jar.

Three days later
Harriet was tired. It had taken one day to find dad and six days to find the memory jar. It was good for a week. Now it was time to stay at home.
**
Two minutes later
Harriet was home. She handed the memory jar to her mom. Momentarily, her memory came back. Harriet told her what she had missed. Then she played with her pets. After she finished playing with her pets, she went inside. Her mom ran towards her. “Oh, my gosh! $4,000 from the bank was stolen!” Harriet smiled. She thought to herself “You were saying? She laughed and said “I know what you’re getting at, mom! Sure I’ll go find the thief.” Her mom looked shocked. Then she laughed. “You’re funny! Well, I think we should all go.” Now it was Harriet’s turn to look surprised. Then she laughed.
