Waiting For The Door To Open
By Floofy 1/31/12
A girl sits alone
Waiting for the door to open
With a book in her hand
Reading poems from the past
Silver rings shine on her fingers
Strangers pass her by
Faintly hearing the music
That rests in her lap
She reads her book, listens to her music
Sways to the words and the rhythm
Faintly noticing their eyes
Glancing her way, passing her by
The song ends
So she presses repeat
Then it all happens again
As she continues to read and wait
Silver gleaming on her fingers
They see her, hear, but pass her by
So she waits for the door to open
Writing this poem to pass the time
The song ends again as the door opens wide
She gets up and passes them by
And enters the future
With her head held high…
