Fire and Ice chapter 14

Winter had two ways of making a boat move, the first was to make wind to blow it along, and the second way was to freeze the water behind it, since water expands when it freezes the boat would get pushed along. Winter was doing both of these things at once, while Emerald and Amber took turns rowing.
“Emerald, where are we going?!” said Amber
“You’ll find out soon enough.” said Emerald.
On the horizon was an island, about the size of a block of houses.
“That’s we’re we are going.” said Emerald.
They landed on the island. Winter froze the boat in place to keep it from slipping away. Emerald lead them across the island. The sky was twisted into a dark grey frown, the gravelly sand crunched underfoot, and there was something, off about the air. Emerald lead them inside a cold dark damp cave. Amber lit a fire and they all huddled around it
“Emerald, why did you bring us here?” said Amber.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
They made beds out of some leaves. It was a long time before Winter finally managed to fall into a restless sleep.
When winter woke up, she was stiff and tired.
“You girls can explore the island while I make breakfast.” said Emerald. “Now, I just need to figure out how to cook these tinned sausages- oh! Thanks Ember, I mean Amber.” After breakfast, Winter and Amber went out to explore the island. What Winter didn’t know, was that her life would never be the same again.
