Sam: Her eyes were hard, and I knew they held secrets. Bad ones. I traced my fingers on her fingers and there were scratches from who knows what. I know she's hiding something, but I don't know if she will ever tell me. Every now and then I catch her staring off into space like time had frozen and all the coldness in the word had been locked up inside of her. She told me I keep her from going completly insane.
"Well... I think you're crazy," I said teasingly.
She knudged into me.
"Competly insane," she agreed.
For a moment she looked sad. "But you make things better."
Jewel: His smile was warm, and kind, but I felt uneasy the way he looked at me. There was something about him that told me he woud know the truth. My heart lurched as he put his fingers on my hands. Scratches. "Cat scratches" is what I called them when people asked. But I had gotten into a little bit of a fight over something Sam would never understand no matter how hard I tried to explain. I would scream and hate myself if I made him understand though. People like him shouldn't know about things like this.
"Somethings wrong," I say my eyes focused on the ground.
"With what?" he asked.
"Everything. I did the most insane thing and now everything's a mess. I'm insane."
"Well..." he started to say, his lips curving into a smile. "I think you're crazy."
I laugh a little and bump into his shoulder hard as we countinue walking down the street towards his house.
"Completly insane," I say sarcasticaly. Although I wonder often if it's true. It's late at night, and I told him I would drop him off at his house. We hug goodbye before he walks down the pathway that leads to the door.
