Book Summary: A Gifted Game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where simple thing we take for granted today, like buildings and money, are demolished by a mysterious woman--The Witch. It centers around a group of cousins descended from seven siblings. Those siblings were extremely powerful people--all of them "gifted". A gifted person has one or two (though most have only one) powers, and can turn into an animal. For example, the main character, Adelaide, can drive people insane (literally), has telekinesis, and can turn into a black cat. (You know, because Adelaide's awesome.)
Eventually, three of the cousins--Mara, Alyiah, and Adelaide--are kidnapped by an assain/stalker/creepy chick, Allie and one of their other cousin's ex-girlfriend Ashley. They are taken to The Witch's castle. Adelaide learns many things she did not know about her cousins--how they used to work for The Witch, and how they've changed and hardened. Even though both Alyiah and Mara claimed they have changed from the evil that used to possess them, Adelaide finds it hard to trust people who have kept something as important as that from her.
My Recommendation: This is a very good story, peppered with humor and emotion. I really enjoyed it, and recommend A Gifted Game to anyone who likes a good sci-fi/fantasy read. I only rated it down a star because it somewhat lacks description of setting and the appearance of characters. If the author improved on that, I would've rated it a five. Adelaide (Tess) is absolutely brilliant with dialogue. I remember multiple times when my family looked at me weird because I was sitting in front of the computer, literally choking on laughter. I very much enjoyed A Gifted Game ^O^
Note to Author: I noticed you stopped posting at chapter fifteen *pouts*. I am very sad about that. I would love it if you continued A Gifted Game. Puh-leaze??????
