So, I just went and watched The Host. :D I'm also going to do a short review of the book vs. the movie, but here's the movie part first.

The Host

-Movie-

This movie was absolutey phenomenal.

Here's a short summary on what The Host is about:

In a futuristic world, Earth has been invaded by aliens who take over our bodies and occupy them. However, there are still pockets of human resistance that fight back. When Melanie Stryder, one of the last remaining humans on Earth is taken over by a soul named Wanderer, Wanderer (Wanda for short) finds some complications.

Melanie has refused to fade away and is constanly in Wanda's head, bombarding her with images of Jared, the man she loves, and Jamie, her brother. Wanda begins to love these two humans, and together the two embark on an unforgetable journey to find them.

But there's also one soul who will stop at nothing to find Wanderer and with her, the human resistance.

Okay. :D Anyways, the movie was extremely good. Even though they left a lot out, they hit on the important parts of the book and summarized it well without making it seem too rushed. (of course, I understand, because the book is like 600 pages...xD)

Anyways, I thought they played the whole Wanda/Mel relationship well by interjecting Melanie's thoughts. There's the perfect amount of action played with emotion, and funny interjections from either Mel or Uncle Jeb to lighten up the mood. The humor was done really well, and I thought they did a good job casting the roles. Also, they did a good job with portraying the futuristic world-- I really liked how the store was named: Store, and how there were no labels and it told on every can what it was. :D

*SPOILERS ahead if you are planning on reading the book and haven't yet.*

The only thing I didn't really like was that they really kind of cast aside Wanda/Ian's relationship. Sure, there were a few kisses here and there, but other than that, they left out most of the affection between them. Also, there was music in weird places, and it didn't really seem to fit. I personally think they could've done without so much music.

Overall, it was a really good movie, and I enjoyed seeing it. (:

-Book-

The book was also really, really good. Mel and Wanda each have a distictive voice in it, and although it's a really long book, it held my interest throughout the entire thing. The complicated relationship between Mel/Jared/Wanda/Ian was really built up well, and I enjoyed all of the extra scenes that weren't included in the movie.

I also loved Ian's character. :3 (well, in the movie too, but...xD)

I was a little disappointed that they left out the "Jealous O'Shea?" part (okay, okay, this was one of my favorite parts in the book. I don't know why. xD) from the movie, but it was really well-written in the book. I was also disappointed that *spoiler!* Sunny/Jodi wasn't in the movie, because I enjoyed reading about Sunny's character in the book.

Overall, I really enjoyed both the book and the movie, and I can't wait for the sequel to come out. :)

I really liked the book and movie as well (I saw it on Friday, opening day!). I also liked Ian best, but I didn't realize that there is going to be a sequel.

So do you say it is good

So do you say it is good enough to go see in theaters?

So if I punch myself and it hurts, does that mean that I am really strong, or really weak?
