A Book Review by Ryoko
in the Middle of Nowhere (Wisconsin)

Gordon Korman

This is such a great book! 10 out of 10!

The story is about a group of middle-schooler called the unteachables. The school has given up on them. Then they sent them a old teacher named Mr. Kermit. they want Mr. Kermit to retire early, but through the course of the school year they become... teachable! I will give you some lines from the book.

A roaring fire in the wastbasket. Smoke pouring throught then open windows. Kids toasting marshmallows on the end of pencils. Pencils catching fire. One pyromaniac-in training seeing if he can get his eraser to burn. An escapee standing outside in the bushes, gazing in, eyes wide with fear. a boy draped over a desk, fast asleep, oblivious to it all.

"I wonder," She muses finally. "When Kermit fell in to the river-"

"No defence of a teacher should includea sentene that ends with 'fell in the river,'" I cuther off

"The students didn't fall," she persists. "They jumped in because they thought they had to rescue Kermit."
