in which I rant about orthodontics????

So. Orthodontics.
I hate when dentists and orthodontists say something won't hurt that bad. Oh, excuse me, but do you have a chain LITERALLY UNDER YOUR GUMS PHYSICALLY YANKING A TOOTH DOWN FROM A SIDEWAYS POSITION? DO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE ORTHODONTISTS EVERY TWO WEEKS TO HAVE THEM LITERALLY PULL ON A TOOTH THAT'S VERY VERY STUCK IN A VERY VERY PAINFUL POSITION? DIDN'T THINK SO. And braces? Shit man, don't even get me started. They physically rip your gums, lips, and cheeks apart and make you wish you didn't even have teeth in the first place. And then they put the lil color bands on them to make you feel less absolutely terrible like that makes all the difference in the world when in reality it just looks like you permanently have food stuck in your teeth. Speaking of food stuck in your teeth, brushing and flossing is disgusting. There's literally chunks of food in your tooth brush that you don't even remember eating. No one in my family gets it. whenever I complain about the braces they ask if they should call the orthodontist. Literally 90% of having braces and an exposure is pain and can't be fixed by them poking and prodding for a few minutes while in reality changing nothing. AND WAX. As much as dental wax is my best friend right now and takes away a lot of pain, it freakin crumbles and tastes and feels like silly putty in your mouth. AHHHHAHDHAKSJCDOANDOD I'M SO FIRED UP ABOUT ORTHODONTICS OH MY FREAKIN GOD

...so sorry that this was really weird and gross. Also sorry if you're getting braces soon and I just scared you.

I've had braces for a few months actually and they're really not that bad I was slightly exaggerating. It's really the exposure thing that hurts like hell. I have a tooth that's stuck sideways in my gum and they're basically pulling it down by force over a few months and it's AGONY.

I just got my braces off yesterday and everyone's like OH GETTING YOUR BRACES OFF IS JUST WONDERFUL, YES, IT'S ALL WORTH IT, IT'S A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE AND ALL YOUR PAIN AND ANGUISH WILL PAY OFF

I mean yes, my teeth look way better but I can't even eat anything hard without feeling like my mouth is bruised and don't even get me started on the retainer (I'm going to start on the retainer anyway tho because I NEED TO RANT ABOUT THIS) IT IS A PIECE OF PLASTIC ON MY TEETH AT ALL TIMES AND YOU CAN'T BITE DOWN ALL THE WAY AND YOU JUST WANT TO EAT ALL THE TIME BECAUSE THAT'S YOUR EXCUSE TO TAKE IT OFF AND YOUR SMILE'S ALL SCREWED UP BECAUSE YOUR BACK TEETH WON'T GET TOGETHER AND SO THERE'S AN AWKWARD CENTIMETER OF SPACE BETWEEN YOUR ROWS OF TEETH AND GAAAAAAH

ok i'm sorry but I'm having a lot of anguish over this and I need to rant XD getting your braces off isn't that bad I'm just being angry over the freaking retainer which is uncomfortable and I only have to wear it for a month but I'm already dying so you guys just got to hear my vent, lucky you cx

Yeah I have to get permanent retainers when this is all over. I don't really know what to expect from that. But I guess now I do so thanks. :D

omg wow that really sounded like the beginning of my vent was targeted at you, I'm sorry XD braces really aren't that bad, it's just the retainer (do you have one?) it's killing me right now as you can see by that rant

what kind of retainers are you getting, the plastic ones? (well you probably are I just said that in my long speech :D) anyway i'm basically exaggerating, I'm already getting used to them, they just feel really awkward right now XD I'm guessing it's like braces, which is that they totally suck at first and then they start feeling normal and it's all good c: (I don't actually know this but I'm hoping) (plus that's what everyone says so there's a good chance) (I hope I didn't just totally ruin your future experience with retainers) (and Meera just confirmed that they're not that bad so yeah you should be fine)

I actually don't know what kind they are. That's years away and at this point I'm kind of looking forward to it because it's something other than braces. I'm not too worried about it at this point.

I have a normal plastic retainer for my top teeth and a permanent retainer on my bottom. I like the permanent one better actually. All it is is a short wire that spans like six teeth and it stuck to the back of your teeth with cement. It'll be weird for like a day and then you'll completely forget it's there. I love it personally ^.^

As for the top retainer...NO. Every morning I wake up with a bad taste in my mouth because of it. The best part of my day is taking that stupid piece of plastic off and brushing my teeth. *shudders*

Puckbrina159 08-07-2015 03:44 PM

I'm kind of scared and would appreciate some help please.
So every summer, I just kind of forget to eat. It's just because my schedule is all screwed up and it's never really been an issue until this year. I'm almost never hungry. Most days I have to force myself to eat something by the time it gets to be 2 or 3 in the afternoon, because I'm never hungry. About once a week I'll have a day where the thought of food absolutely repulses me. For example, today I didn't eat anything until 3pm and the last thing I wanted to do was eat. I feel really crappy and ill today, and I'd bet it's because I'm not eating enough. My stomach hurts, I feel nauseous, head ache, general body aches. I'm just scared that this will become an everyday occurrence and possibly an eating disorder. I just feel so shitty and weak, and even though I know why I can't help myself. Any tips or advice on how to get myself back to normal?

This happens to me as well o.o how long has it been happening for you? Cause when it happens to me it lasts a week or two. The only way to really solve it is to force yourself to eat a healthy amount of food a day, no matter how unappetizing it may seem. Hopefully it won't last long for you :( if it does, you should probably go to see a doctor before it gets any worse. I hope you feel better!!

I actually forget to eat for like weeks at a time, but this is the first time that I'm like repulsed by food. But actually, I started to feel even worse and like I was going to faint/vomit and we checked and I have a fever. So I guess that that explains it. If it continues for a long time I may have to go see a doctor. Thanks for your help though.

(this is coming from a recovering anorexic who knows a lot about how to force feed yourself) try carnation breakfast essentials. they make chocolate milk with protein. And eat lots of fats, because they can keep you going unlike simple carbs and sugar. So like I will put peanut butter in my carnation breakfast essentials and maybe a banana or something and make a milkshake. actually I like to put cereal in the blender with it to give it grain exchanges, but I'm just weird that way. Anyway the whole concept of high protein smoothies is a lot easier to handle than hard cruel food in general. Just don't put too much excess sugar in them and get some green veggies in there as well if you can. Basically throw everything healthy together in a blender with some milk and ice and let shit happen 8D

Oh, and did I mention that avacados and nutella are really good fats to keep you going? You can eat them on crackers or by themselves with a spoon like a boss.

if you need more ideas I'm always here to share my extensive knowledge of food. xD

Wow thanks. For now I'm not going to worry about it too much because turns out I'm sick. Fever and general crapiness. But as soon as I feel a little better, trust me, I have no issues hitting the nutella.

I know that feel its so frustrating, when you think you've got it figured out but NOPE.

definitely look into bisexual/romantic if you think it might fit better!

ehhhh it was because of band camp and i kinda had heat stroke and pretty bad dehydration at once and i had a slight fever the day before yesterday, not like anyone would care or anything bc everyone in band hates me and im bad
however i'm still third chair flute so that goes before my physical health l o l
as long as my placement is safe it doesn't matter if i'm passing out every five seconds (although it would be hard to learn drill and play, so as long as i can do that i'm good)
as you can see i have messed up priorities

Just keep yourself safe. Your physical and emotional state comes before everything else in your life. :)

Wow what a great day for my self esteem. My brother had a recital and I had about 20 old people come up to me and tell me what a blessing my incredibly talented brother is. At the end of the recital, the priest (this recital was at a church) stood up and just said "God bless Jacob. Truly. What an amazing man." I feel so loved.
