I spend almost every night crying myself to sleep. The nights I don't, it's because I was cutting and I had already spent all of my tears. It's the lyrics in forest that really get to me.

This is not what you're supposed to see
Please, remember me. I am supposed to be
King of a kingdom

This isn't who I'm supposed to be. This isn't what everyone is supposed to see. And I don't know what to do any more.

maybe you could placate him by listening to happy music around him? show him not all their songs are sad - try "we don't believe what's on TV," "the judge," (pfft deceptively happy lmao) "Tear in My Heart," "Polarize," "March to the Sea," "The Pantaloon," (the happy music could trick him?) "Screen," and "Truce" - not a happy song, but like, he's saying don't kill urself how is that sad again?

kitchen sink speaks to me because i want to be left alone and i want everyone to go away, but please see that i don't mean it i'm begging for someone don't let me be by myself i can't trust my own thoughts

Okay, so I made my dad listen to truce and he was like, "what do the lyrics, You will die, but now your life is free, mean to you?" And I was baffled. My dad didn't directly state it, but he was implying that the lyrics meant that you be better if you were dead. Can he not here "stay alive?" Why can't he take the words so obviously stated and build the other lyrics in the song after them?

I'll try to get him to listen to those song, but honestly, he's so fed up with twenty one pilots that he gets frustrated when I listen to them. Once he told me to "turn that crap off" It thoroughly depressed me.

don't you hate it when you know exactly what you have to do but have no clue how to do it?

to me, that means that yes, someday i will die, but i shouldn't have to worry about that. my life is free. i am free to live like i want. i don't know why, stormy...you could try pointing that out to him gently, so he doesn't get mad at you.

well, we can't expect our parents to understand - maybe it's not a bad thing. this is something special and beautiful only you can understand, understanding their music and liking it and knowing what tyler is talking about. relating, mm, maybe that's not so great sometimes...
