Hey, you don't have to tell your parents! I'm ace but am currently writing a lesbian protagonist and all my parents know is that she's a girl. Plus, representation is good. ^.^

I wish my parents were like that.
I mean, my dad's completely fine with homosexuality.
Idk about my mum though.
I wish that when I say, "I'm going to write about a gay couple between a demon and a dark Fae that fall in love, and it's a star-crossed warring romance," that'd they'd say:
"Omg, can I read it?"

My parents are a lot like yours, except they'd be completely shocked if I did anything involving queer people. If only they knew I'm one myself.

I know, if my parents knew that I was gay, they wouldn't freak out but they wouldn't be completely nice either. They'd ask so many questions, and I don't like that. xD
I'm on chapter 1 of mai gay paranormal romance now.

I'm on chapter 2 of the random story about a chronically anxious gay cellist that I keep mentioning everywhere because I FREAKING LOVE THIS CHARACTER AND SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST OK

Omg that sounds awesome.
My story turned out a bit more gory than I wanted it to. In the first sentence, a bisexual demon cuts off a witch's head with an axe.

O_O but that sounds seriously badass and amazing though
The chronically anxious gay cellist story is now also known as the chronically anxious homoromantic asexual cellist story. Also she's about to meet an awesome girl who plays horn and has purple hair and a pretty voice <3

maxi 12-26-2014 07:59 PM

Oh god I love Fravado:

Am I the only one who gets super annoyed when I see articles like "How to Become a Bestselling Author" and "How to Appeal to Readers to Make Sales"?

I mean, is that what writing has stooped to? Is that why people write now? No wonder there are so many crappy books. It's fine if you want to make money, I get that, it's how the world works. I just kind of viewed literature as something more pure and... different, I suppose. At least when I was younger. I realize that business is a part of it if you want to make a living, but... I don't know it seems blasphemous, to use an extreme term.

I know there are still people who write out of passion, but it just gets on my nerves a bit when I see articles like that.

well chapter two is up. PLEASE READ IT THERE'S A POSSIBLE SHIP (that may or may not be canon) AND IT'S TOO CUTE ALREADY OMG

rebecca 12-27-2014 04:04 AM

I talk to my parents about all my books. I've made it clear I write characters of many different sexualities. If they don't like it - my dad's fine, my mum can misunderstand things a bit (i.e., she once accidentally said she thought some people chose to be gay because one of her friends used to date women and now only dates men - meaning she's obviously chosen to be straight instead as, you know, being bisexual). I mean, aside from her lack of understanding about sexuality, she's usually great, and I do try to help her out.

Paranormal romance excerpt:

Adam stood in the scent, and breathed it in, nearly coughing, nearly gagging at the smell but kept it all in as he stood there on the stony, rocky, broken ground. He gripped his axe tighter in his left hand, and closed his eyes.
The darkness fulfilled him, closed him in a room where he didn’t have to think but just had to listen, and that was the automatic structure of a demon, of what he was. He closed his eyes and he listened, and heard a hiss of a sword.
He opened his eyes, turned around, and ducked just before he got his head cut off. A witch was in front of him, elemental magic dripping off of the tip of her axe as she ran up towards him, but he slammed the axe point into her neck, pushing her onto the ground.

EmmaR 12-27-2014 08:01 PM

tbh I'm so excited for both of your stories

yooo this is chapter two :D

rebecca 12-28-2014 06:00 AM

Part of my wants to edit my story about the trans genius and war and stuff, but the other part knows it will never be appropriate for KP on account of the constant expletives.

saphiremoon 12-28-2014 10:21 PM

more of a rant about what I'm not writing but

I really really want to write a story about a vigilante
which I know is really overdone but an original twist on it would be great to write
maybe a steampunk about witch-hunter vigilantes?

Confuzzled 12-28-2014 10:23 PM

hey
hey guys
I climbed out of my "I will never write stories again I don't have the patience" hole and actually wrote something substantial.
maybe check it out idontknowjustmaybe? ;)

ahhhhh that awful moment when you can feel your face get hot when you read romance you wrote half a year ago
ughhhhh why I think I'm going to cry
please don't tell me I wrote this ;-;

I think that's great.
Seriously.
I want in.

rebecca 12-31-2014 06:28 PM

Like, I have characters who would fit that setting and I'm so jealous you got there first. Unfortunately, I am bad at collaborations.

meerkat 12-31-2014 07:05 PM

trying to write a song and looking at all the music theory aspects of it instead of making lyrics that are okay D:

For me, the planning is the best bit.
Because of how I plan I get to live it all as it happens. I pace around the house thinking scenes over. I get into character. I talk to myself. It's definitely weird, file it under eccentric writer syndrome. But it's so intense, emotional and beautiful I then have to write it down, and I can never quite do it justice. If I could write a novel just by thinking, it would be perfect.
Now writing, that's a different story. I have to coherently sew the scenes I've created together by replicating them in my head as accurately as I can and so form a narrative that makes sense. Unlike the little games I played while creating the world.

And it's never as raw or painful as when it first happened.

Seriously, planning is the easiest part. It all comes so easily, but getting the words down in the perfect order is almost impossible.

meerkat 01-02-2015 07:01 PM

My entire planning stage consists of making amazing characters with wonderful backstories and personalities and stuff... and having no plot.

saphiremoon 01-03-2015 06:23 PM

I'm usually really intense about plotting and structure, but I've been free writing today and it's so much fun. I've written more than three thousand words in around four hours, and it just feels so easy. So I think I might try free writing more often c:

((plus there's hot characters)) ((i love hot characters))

saphiremoon 01-07-2015 02:39 PM

so I was reading the last bits of the first scene in chapter eighteen in Shadow Realm, and I realized that I can't remember writing any of it

any of it whatsoever

how sleepy was I when I wrote it

Ember 01-10-2015 03:32 PM

okay so i have this idea i really like, but it takes place over the course of someone's lifetime and i don't even know how to write it because it's all these separate events that occur at different stages of his life and does anyone even know how to write like that because i do not.
