ughhhhhh pARABLE
man idek how to explain how this idea got started in my head but there's this kid named Walden whose mom dies in childbirth so one of her best friends helps take care of him throughout his life and Walden becomes this horrible person with reality bending powers who nearly destroys this other kid's mind but doesn't because the OTHER KID CALLS HIM BY HIS NAME and then Walden's all like "wait i shouldn't do this oh no" but the other kid's life is destroyed, even though he's still sane so Walden's like "what do i do" and then he just he goes to his old nurse and dumps the other kid on her because he knows she can take care of him and that's how Tara Lynn Ivory got Cecil Keys in her life |
Pls take a moment to appreciate this name:
DUMU.MUNUS kui pahhas LI-NI GE I spent an hour on this extremely sketchy translation of ancient frickin Hittite, which says; Daughter who Protect(s) our Dark(ness) And then since I obviously hate myself I translated the name into Slavey. That translation is much calmer; Adze Ts'Eku, in other words 'moon woman'. This is my punishment for thinking it would be cool to have a 5,000-year-old fairy chick in this story *cri* |

I applaud you; that is rad |
okay so im almost done with my book
like i have less than 10,000 words left probably i could be done in a week, maybe more, maybe less, depending on how quickly i write. but i have this deep fear that im going to lose all my inspiration to keep writing before i finish it and that the excitement of almost being done will wear off if i take too long to actually finish, and then it will take me like three more months just to write three chapters. that's never happened before but idk it's an irrational fear i have. |
aaaa you're all so lucky im pretty sure i'll never finish a book. BUUUUT i'm working on Oz, Wonderland my HORRIBLE book so far, and i have an idea hangin around my head sooo yaaaaaa

Uhhhh I'm not writing so that's the problem I guess

i don't even know if it's right at all rip xP Quote:
and even if you end up taking those three months to write the ending.. who hasn't? Like really, what writer hasn't, at some point, taken a longass frickin time to finish a relatively easy piece? what matters is that you finish it. |
it's almost eleven and i could fall asleep at my laptop rn but i'm finishing this short story, dammit
|
Yo for you guys that have actually written 50,000+ words, how do you do it?? Tell me your secrets. In depth please ;-;

you just keep writing. like, personally, i need to know generally what im going to be writing. so i have an outline for my story. the beginning and the middle and the end, and then all the big important plot points along the way. This way, I know what goals I am working toward. short term goals are everything!!! they help so much. take your outline and look at it scene-by-scene or chapter-by-chapter. look at it really close, instead of taking in the entire book as one thing. say your first goal is 5,000 words. so you just write your story you have planned out and then you magically reach 5,000 words. don't worry if it's shit, as long as it's down and there and you can say "i've written 5,000 words of my story." Then make your next goal 10,000. Then you might say "okay so 10,000 was easy, I'm barely into my outline, so let's make the next goal 20,000. and yeah that's how i did it and i'm just past 200,000 on my fantasy book rn and i have 2 more chapters in it. but also i've been writing just this one book for two years now. ive been writing this series for almost three. it really does just take a lot of commitment and perseverance. i go through phases where i'll write 20,000 words in a month, and i'll go through longer phases where i write like 1,000 words a month...for like six months in a row. it's really just a process and it will probably take a long time no matter what. BASICALLY A SHORT VERSION OF ALL THAT ABOVE: - outline - make short term goals - commit |
