Who do you think is going to win the 2012 US Elections?

Personally, I think Mr. Romney's doing pretty well. Who do YOU think has the upper hand?

AlgebraAddict 07-26-2012 06:27 PM

I do not predict that this thread will be as civilized as it should be in the near future.

I've always found it funny how biased polls are. Interestingly enough, they're more biased when the interviewers are female grad students. ;)

Rebecca for president. 8D

rebecca 07-30-2012 03:22 AM

Never mind the fact I was born in Wales!

SuperJ 07-30-2012 03:59 PM

OBAMA IS SO RESPONSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's such a wise owl....:)

AlgebraAddict 07-30-2012 04:31 PM

Yeah, two thousand powerful guns into the hands of mexican drug dealers. Reeeal responsible.

rebecca 07-31-2012 04:53 AM

Mind you, I prefer him to Republicans who are, in my opinion, complete freaks.

AlgebraAddict 07-31-2012 11:00 AM

*jumps around drinking 44oz slushie*

What? I'm not a freak!

rebecca 07-31-2012 12:14 PM

I despise their policies, the politicians themselves are absolute jokes...mind you, I'm a socialist. My dad plays the red flag when he gets bored. Socialism would work, if carried out correctly...without dictatorships.

AlgebraAddict 07-31-2012 01:25 PM

Socialism hasn't been working very well recently, if you've noticed. North Korean citizens don't have the greatest lives.

I am an unofficial Republican.

LaurenM 07-31-2012 09:14 PM

Yes. I hate the Norh Korean government. Did you hear that they launched a satellite up into space when the whole country was so poor?
It's a thousand times worse than the Chinese government.

AlgebraAddict 07-31-2012 09:22 PM

No wonder obesity is on the rise.

rebecca 08-01-2012 02:39 AM

I said if carried out correctly, without dictatorships. North Korea has a bloody dictatorship, and a lovely attitude. Now proper socialism is less oppressive.

EmmaR 08-01-2012 11:38 PM

AHEM.
Although I am a devoted Democrat, I would like to point out that "republicans" and "republicans in politics" are very different things. The people that get featured on Fox News are radical, right wing conservatives. Most of America is somewhere in the middle, LEANING left or LEANING right. Unfortunately, REAL republicans don't get featured in the mainstream media, because the radicals are the ones squealing the loudest (therefore, they "get the grease"). I have a republican friend. She is completely reasonable, agrees with me on social issues like gay rights, abortion, and contraception, but she just thinks that republican ideas would benefit America. And I respect that. Nobody is like (for example) Pat Robertson (he makes me cry, seriously, I hate him so much), and he doesn't fairly represent Republicans or Christians (of which I am neither, just to emphasize that I am not defending myself here).

Okay. On the topic, I don't know who's going to win. I hope it's Obama (actually, I WISH it was Hillary Clinton, but THAT'S not happening), though.
I hate how some people (radical right-wing conservatives in the media) are making a big deal of Obama experimenting with drugs in his twenties, and then completely dismissing the fact that Romney was a bully. Drugs are something you do, a bully is something you are. You can never out run something that you are, no matter how much you've changed. You will always be the mean kid on the playground, somewhere in your soul. That said, I don't think that it matters when choosing a president. I just agree with Obama, and disagree with Romney. It's as simple as that.

rebecca 08-02-2012 01:17 AM

Well I know virtually nothing about American politics other than what is featured on television.

Exactly. That's why I don't like Fox News.
Just clearing things up.

rebecca 08-07-2012 07:40 AM

I would never survive in America. I'd get bored. No idea how it's possible with the size of the bloody country...

Anything can be fun if you know where to look.

LaurenM 08-07-2012 09:42 AM

I'd like to live in America...if I go to a public school, I can wear casual wear...but if so, my parents would just ask me to go to a Chinese school.

Don't bet on it. I go to a public school, and they make us wear uniforms.

LaurenM 08-07-2012 12:03 PM

Well...just one that has no uniforms.

rebecca 08-07-2012 12:16 PM

Why are people so bothered about uniforms?

LaurenM 08-07-2012 12:22 PM

Because I can't run in my new one...AT ALL. That is why.

Ruza 08-07-2012 12:30 PM

Because some females don't like wearing dresses or skirts.

rebecca 08-08-2012 02:30 AM

Oh, so the uniform is skirts. That explains it.

LaurenM 08-08-2012 03:26 AM

It's not just a shirt. It's a Qipao.

rebecca 08-08-2012 09:17 AM

Yes, you have mentioned.

LaurenM 08-08-2012 11:11 AM

*skirt.
Which is worse.

rebecca 08-08-2012 11:55 AM

No idea .

avbhabra 08-24-2012 01:28 PM

I dunno... Could be Romney or Obama, who else? XD I don't know though... Mitt Romney's doing pretty good but so is Obama. I'm not really focusing on that, though, Quebec is having elections. If the PQ wins, their probably going to have referendum and make Quebec a separate country. I hope that doesn't happen!!

avbhabra 08-24-2012 01:29 PM

I can't believe I was so weird that answered my own question. XD :o

Stephiey 09-01-2012 07:06 PM

I'm really hoping it's Romney. I mean, just as Romney said at the Tampa Convention: "Can we say that we're better off now than we were 4 years ago??" Obviously, no!

No, but at least we won't dive into the abyss we will if Romney becomes President.

Give me a single policy of his that you think is good and will rectify the country, make it better than it was under Obama.

Obama failed. I agree. But I say he failed because he was too conservative. He was too right-wing. Too Republican. He tried to concede and negotiate, but Republicans are too firm to concede anything from their side.

AlgebraAddict 09-02-2012 10:30 AM

I think most of the repubicans in the country dislike Obamacare, which was obviously messed up by those evil republicans.

EmmaR 09-02-2012 05:39 PM

I think that this election is way more polarizing than it should be. The debate isn't "Who's going to fix the country", because neither Obama nor Romney are going to, it's "Who's going to screw it up the least".
You know what we need? We need a world war, FDR, or Clinton.

Republicans are freaks. Or at least total morons. But they're good to do business with.

Stephiey 09-05-2012 05:57 PM

If Obama is reelected, then people who make above $250,000 will have to pay an extra (or maybe it was that they will pay) 40,000 dollars. If you make 150,000 or less, then you will have to pay an extra (again, I'm not really sure about whether it's "extra" or "you will pay this") 15,000. And this is all true. It's all from real policies that he agreed with or signed.

I just don't get him. Why would he want to raise taxes on the rich? A lot of them worked super hard to get there and now their money is just being taken away? And some of the poor people are just drug addicts who are too lazy to get a job. I mean, this is the land of opportunity for goodness sakes! Anyone who really wants something and works hard can get it.
