I looked into her eyes. In the summer, they looked so much lighter, but now in the winter, her eyes seemed really dark, even darker than they actually are. It was silent again for what seemed like forever. It was broken be a loud, hacking cough. After listening to the cough absentmindedly for a moment, I realized it was me who was coughing.
“River Runner?” Jaguar Hunter raised an eyebrow, “Are you okay?”
I nodded but my coughing fit wasn’t over. It was like I was choking, except I wasn’t. My back of my throat was annoyingly tingly and itchy.
Jaguar Hunter gingerly touched cheeked my forehead. “River Runner, you’re burning up!”
I squeezed my eyes closed in annoyance. “No, not now! Why now?” I wailed. “Why do I have to get a fever in the middle of a war?”
