I've grown tired of shadows and wispy ghosts. Can't they have something solid like...creative MONSTERS?
And I hate that nearly all evil things are dark. A league of evilness can dress in neon pink! And kill people with cute kittens with razor claws! |

Apathy is one of the most destructive and underestimated forces in the world. And it's not dark, either. It's neutral. |

(I don't know...that just sort of became a quote to me) Unfortunately...it's really hard to bring out those sorts of darknesses as the main evil in the story without people retaliating. And then, while revealing the dark sides, the authors can't help adding dark and grisly things there. |

TL;DR: Depending on the person, everyone needs a certain amount of pain in their life to feel real, therefore they are able to turn to dark or dystopian literature as a release. As for fantasy literature, though, I gave up on that genre after like two books. To be completely honest, I'm really done with elves and dragons and wizards and magic/magyk/magik/mageic and the entire fantasy genre, which carries the same air of heavy Germanic and Nordic mythology-influence. So done with magic especially, though. Oh, not to mention vampires and demons. I haven't read a book in like three years because of how done I am with the idiotic writers these days. Also, can we please stop the random genetic mutation stuff? Please? I just.. . I ... *breathes* *leaves to go to the cliche-rant thread* Quote:

Sandy: That's actually how I am. I look for books with sad ass shit in it because I can relate to it most, and those are my fave kinds of books. But sometimes, I want more positive books but its also really hard to pull off with darker themes.

My dearest darlingest mother,
When I explicitly ask you not to tell my father something, for whatever reason (be it a reason that you know or something that you do not know), I expect you not to tell my father. When my father comes into the room wanting to talk to me about the thing that I EXPLICITLY told you not to talk to him about, it is a violation of my trust that I will remember when telling you things in the future. If I can't tell you things knowing that you will not share them, I won't tell you things at all. Love, Your most fabulous and insecure daughter |
