All that reminds me is to say that in your poem I love the lines "Admit to death you are weak". I can see so many of my characters saying something like that... Especially in HITS.

Oh of course brain. Come up with random stanzas that don't even go together!

I hate to say this, but poetry fundamentals have to start with a strict structure, once you've mastered that, then you can go free-flow. Force yourself to follow a certain rhyme pattern and a certain meter.

For example an abab cdcd quatrain poem with 10 syllables in each line.

And OVERDO Metaphors!

Excuse me, I have never mastered that, and I am a pretty good poet. it's not absolutely nessacary. it may work for you, but you can leave US alone.

If you're slipping on a skating rink, then grabbing the side railings should help. Maybe it isn't necessary for You, O Born Poet, but it is a piece of advice.

meter is keeping the same number of syllables with the same stress pattern in each line.
