Wait, not to be offensive or anything but are you gay, because you can help me out. :D

I'm not entirely sure, since this is only my second crush on a girl. My first only lasted for a short while so I never mentioned it , but this current crush has been going on for like a month. I definitely do like guys, though, so I might be bisexual.

Dunno why that was whited out, since I know most KPers aren't homophobes, but oh wells.

I'm in seventh, and I've known too many people to count that are homophobes, make fun if gays/bisexuals, and then there are the people that are actually mature and support gays.
In sixth, there were a lot of people who thought gays were weird and a few that supported gays.
And in fifth, everyone was using "faggot" all the time and making fun of gays and saying how wrong it was.

But in all three grades, there are still like ten people that giggle when the teacher mentions the word "homosexual". It's super annoying.

Lily09 12-04-2012 03:11 AM

Honestly, if people are making fun of gays or giggling throughout the video, I'd ask them politely to shut their mouth.

Well, if the boy in our class who is an idiot speaks up, I will tell the teacher that he thinks he loves the video and wants to learn much more about it! ^__^

Have you seen the gay marriage thread? (*facepalm*)
We can't stop bickering about it.
There are homophobes within the KP community, and although they're the minority, their opinions seem a lot louder than ones of acceptance of homosexuality.
I'm not trying to be rude; I understand that people have different views about things. I'm just stating a fact. ._.

As for maturity, Max, you are far beyond that of a seventh grader. o_o In middle school, maturity seems to go backwards... I hope you have a better time in seventh and eighth grade than I did... o_O x_x

I know how you feel... I was so relieved when I found names for what makes my brain fire in the retarded way that it does. ._. Sadly I need to keep coming up with more names to make myself feel validated because the ones that applied in the past do not, now that I learned how to crack down on the negatives, apply.
I have the same Sherlockian abilities, perhaps more intense, though (I do NOT mean that in any rude way, sorry if it sounds like it)... ever since my dad watched Young Sherlock Holmes or whatever that movie was called, I've been known in my family as Sherlock... I can pick up on very strange things (c'mon, do I need to go into detail? .___. Too... many... details...), for example, at a concert, while everyone else is looking at the light show on the stage, I'm looking at the lights reflecting off the roof, or in the theatre while everyone else is staring at the screen I'm the only one who thinks to check the audience. Plus a butt ton of other stuff that is too boring to ramble about. =_=
From the research I did about it, one of the defining characteristics of an HSP is emotional sensitivity, and apparently they're known as "indigo children" aka "the new kids on the block." They're, if one were to view it in a spiritual sense, the exact opposite of the "souls" of people who lived years ago, who had no problem brutally murdering each other over land or food and lived guiltless existences, unscathed emotionally by horrific living conditions and watching people dying around them (I'm talking Black Plague, etc). Apparently, these "souls" (in quotes because I personally am not sure about this and I know that these are not your beliefs, but this is how I came to understand the concept) are being replaced by a new generation of people who are sensitive, caring, righteous, etc. :P There's a lot of videos on it.
Based on the aforementioned qualities, I am certainly not an HSP. X'D DX
(Pardon the random self-analyzation here...)
I find that I do not have the same creativity that an HSP would have. Mine lingers more on the "insane" side, where I will be alone for up to fifteen hours working on something without breaks in a tiny room--and I'll go through bouts of mania and display very extremist personality traits, ie, I get up every morning at five a.m. to work on stuff.... ._. My creativity is not driven by the same things that drive "normal, healthy" creativity, I think... I drink more than ten cups on an average day of coffee simply for the caffeine rush... even without it I'll experience the weirdest thi--well, anyways...
I mean, calling myself mildly schizotypal would explain most of my mannerisms... but I feel like one of those "mastermind" Sims. Whereas a schizotypal person would fall short, I excell--namely, social cues, self-presentation, reading social situations, arithmetic, etc... I am extremely left-brained and extremely right-brained at the same time, and every day in Math and English I am freaked out by something... in English class I seem to reach deeper into things than anyone else (that I know of, at least) and during a quote test for Julius Caesar where we had to interpret the secret meaning of the quotes, I was the last one finished, scribbling out paragraphs of interpretation whereas everyone else wrote "Cassius is angry" or "Brutus is sad." And then one thing in math class has been nagging at me for a long time now... a selected group of students were put in a thinking-outside-the-box math contest and apparently I was able to answer the most questions of people I know of, missing only 1/75 out of two sections, and when we were doing a fun activity for visual thinkers (making shapes out of smaller shapes), I was getting the shapes right with ease while everyone else had difficulty getting just one or two. o_O I told my dad and he said that I just have a knack for visualization, visual thinking, spacial orientation, etc... yet meanwhile I am extremely logical and left-brained? Wut?
I am still waiting for an explanation for those hallucinations, though. I will never forget those...
As for personality types, I'm pretty sure I'm ISTP. :3 YAY LOGIC. 8^)

Finally a KidPubbian who isn't an INFP! /highfiveISTP
My Maths are pretty fine and I find it easy so far, since once you get it, you can be sure about your answer. But I'm pretty intuitive too, especially in English; ask me the answer for a grammatical question and I can answer you correctly, but ask me why, I'd be as clueless as the questioner.

Me too. I've also developed two 'crushes' on girls, though 'stalkerish obsessions' fit better.

My LS teacher keeps saying that he wouldn't worry much about us dating because my school's a girls' school (We're going through a textbook called Love and Sex and I really hope we get through it ASAP) and the whole class started laughing.

That's fine. Most of us don't judge, it's perfectly fine to like girls and guys.

O_O So.

The other day, my dad read this article about a newly recognized personality trait. Not a disorder, not an advantage. A personality trait. People who have it are called Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs). This means exactly what it sounds like--their nervous system tends to be more sensitive (meaning, more pain or more pleasure than most people feel), they're extremely emotional people, are effected by the emotions of the people around them, take great pleasure in sensory experiences (music, food, etc.), notice subtle things in their surroundings/life/situations (think like Sherlock Holmes, basically), and a whole bunch of other stuff.

And you know what?

It.
Makes.
SO.
MUCH.
SENSE!

From the reading my dad and I have done, we've come to realize that many people we know are HSPs. He and I both took a little test thing to give us a rough estimate of how likely that is for us. I checked 23 out of 27 of the boxes on the test, and only 14 checked boxes were required for a "yes, you're probably an HSP" answer.

All of the sudden, everything in my life that I never thought about and dismissed as a family quirk is making SENSE. O.o Why my migraines are triggered by flashes of bright light. Why I get so irritated after being in a large, upset crowd for too long. Why I go through mood swings that are strange even for a teenager. Why I can smell nearly as good as a hound dog, despite my constant stuffy nose. Why my advice to those who don't see value in life is always to try to enjoy having the five senses. ESPECIALLY why I love music and writing and reading so much--HSPs tend to be "unusually creative".

I'm not an introvert. I'm not bipolar. I'm an HSP. It has a NAME. There's a name for what I am. o__o And the statistics!!! :'D 15% to 20% of the people you meet is probably an HSP. That's about 1 in 5 people! And my recently developing social anxieties? Unfortunately, yes, that's real. It's apparently one of the effects of not being identified as an HSP early enough--the person will be misjudged by themselves and the people around them, thereby causing long-term damage such as chronic depression (eh, possibly, now I see it might just because I always seem to be around depressed people, thus making ME depressed), social anxieties (x_x yup, getting there), being severely anti-social, and a plethora of other things.

I just can't get over this. O.o

If anything I just said sparks your interest, or you think you can identify with it, you can take a self-test here: http://www.hsperson.com/pages/test.htm
REMEMBER, like the bottom of that page said, the results you may get are NOT final. It's more like an educated guess. NOT concrete proof.

I only got like 17.

So I have this really really REALLY big social studies project coming up.. and my teacher has given us the chance to have partners. BUT.... it is twice amount the work. So if I have to write one paragraph per event or something, it is two! There are some advantages. Because my potential partner that I want to pick is like, a real hard worker, and I think we would work really well together. But it is double the work and I am sosososo busy!

What should I do? Please help!

I know this sounds bad, but you should just do it alone. If you do it with a partner, you'll probably have too much work, and not enough time. I just suggest to talk to your parents if you have any problems.

I'm listening to "Dead Man's Chest" because this Bio homework is going to kill me. :)

Sorry, I just had to lighten the mood because everyone is so DARN DEPRESSED!!!!

DEAR EVERYONE:

Alright, I want you to listen to me. First of all, you are all freakin' amazing. I don't care if you are a "oldie" and you've been on here since the beginning of KP, or if you just joined yesterday. You are all unique and special and wonderful and beautiful people.

Okay, got that?

For all of the people who feel unloved:

I get it, okay? I feel like that half the time. My parents, they don't even understand me. So I get it. But please, you have to get out of that chasm of despair, alright? I got out and you can too. KidPubbers love you. Even though you might not think it, your parents probably love you. I FREAKIN' LOVE ALL OF YOU!!!!! :) So if it comes down to that, remember, Stephanie. Thinks. You. Are. Amazing.

To people who have to deal with bullies:

Okay, I hate to admit it, but I was sort of a bully to this one kid in 6th grade. He was super annoying to me and my friends and we though it would be funny to call him stuff like "retarded cow" (See, I don't even know how I think this was clever???!!!). And now, I remember that and I'm like "Darn. I was so stupid". But keep your head up, okay? You're not going to be in middle school or high school forever, and soon you'll be off to college and your wonderfully successful lives. And when you're feeling especially down, come to KP, grab a box of chocolates, and vent out all your problems to me, 'kay?

To people who are having love issues:

Oh. My. Gosh. I have this problem so much. First of all, sweeties, let me tell you something: You're just a kid still, okay? So if that guy in 6th grade doesn't fall in love with you, life will move on. Eventually. It's not the end of the world. It's not the end of your life. It's not even the end of the prospects of a relationships. (Just wait for a couple years, you'll see... people change!) And if the guy/girl is a jerk to you, forget them. You are worth more than that.

To people who are worried about looks:

Geez, this is like the story of my life. I have glasses, acne, the whole shebang, okay? But seriously, when I see someone, I don't even notice their looks. Personally, I'm more worried about what I look like then to judge them. So don't even worry about it! Baby fat disappears, acne goes away, you can get contacts. Life moves on. And boys even like me, even though I'm not gorgeous. It's the personality that counts.

To people who are just... depressed/going through a hard time in life/ sad:

*hugs* That's all I can do, honey. I love you, your parents love you, your friends love you, KPers love you. Keep your chin up. Smile. You'll get past this. Life is gonna move on. Just don't worry about the things you can't control.

And please, PLEASE don't ever think about suicide. That. Is. Not. The. Answer. Even though it may seem like there's nothing left in the world for you, there's always that one light at the end of the tunnel. Write down one thing you're thankful for everyday. Talk to a counselor. Because if you killed yourself... I would die on the inside. KP would die. Just. Don't.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!

If this was Facebook, I'd hit the like button.
Then, like, hack someone else's account and hit the like button on their account too.

:D:D Thanks! I was just trying to help. The stupid thing about computers is that you can't reach into them and bear hug someone.

And in fifth, everyone was using "faggot" all the time and making fun of gays and saying how wrong it was.

But in all three grades, there are still like ten people that giggle when the teacher mentions the word "homosexual". It's super annoying.

I hit homophobes. I'm serious. Like, there was this guy on a school trip I went on and every time he said "fag" or gay in a derogatory manner, I would stop whatever I was doing and smack him. He learned his lesson after the first week. He and his friends incessantly make fun of my friend and call him gay, even though he's not. Yeah, kids are cruel.

Emma, that is an awesome way to result your situation of bullying gay people. x_x Honestly, I think people can be gay if they want to--they is no saying that they can't so they can go off and love whom they want to love--I think it is a fine thing to do, seeing that people can react (sometimes) differently in life but what I am saying is that you can be day if you are gay; it doesn't matter if you are. My friend is afraid/doesn't like gays and I don't care--gay people are themselves. ;__; They love whoever. They aren't different than us.

Yup. I even hit people I don't know very well. I just say "excuse me" to whomever I'm talking to and whack them.
Sometimes when I'm bored I calculate the number of gay people in my grade. Using the 7% model and factoring in Seattle's higher percentage (12.5%), there are around 6 gay people in my grade. In the entire middle school, probably around 12 to 13 people.
I hate homophobic bullying. I don't exactly know why I get so fired up about it, even more than other forms of bullying, because I don't really have a sexuality myself, but it just infuriates me.

Well, I am glad you did that. *shakes hand*

I feel so lost.
a) I don't know who I am friends with anymore in my group. J and E, I say they aren't, but they act like I should be their friends. They make self esteem even lower. I can be fine one minute, and the next I could be feeling the need to cut because they're saying stuff like, "Oh wow, I bet you got a bad grade, huh." Especially with E, this hurts. She's getting better grades, but she used to be at the same area I was in. Now that she's getting better grades, it seems like she's just pushing me down so that she can pull herself up.

b) and then I have one friend I hate it when she gets the slightest bit annoyed at me, so I shut up for a long time. Even if it was just being annoyed, I go into silent mode so I won't cause her to get upset again. I hate this, because I shouldn't be like this. I should not be so upset that she's just a tiny bit annoyed, but I can't help it.

c) I'm confused about my sexuality. Frustrated but not so much as Problem A.

problem a is my biggest problem.
I feel so lost.
I have no idea who my friends are, or if I even have any.

That.
That is incredibly freaking awesome.

It definitely doesn't sound like you should be friends with J and E, if they make you feel worse…

And b, I don't know, just try to tell yourself that people get annoyed and you can't always prevent that. :/

You do have friends.

Just hold onto it as long as you can. It won't stay for ever, but it will make life better. (:

Thanks Rachel. Sometimes, I feel like you are the only one here that answers to my pleas.
