Hm...play video games, board games, go on a YouTube music spree, get her to ramble about something that happened to her (i.e. funniest/weirdest thing that's happen in the past year, her favorite new movie, etc.), discuss/debate favorite books and TV shows, play with her pets (if she has any, ESPECIALLY if they know tricks)....stuff like that. :D Also, if she/you would find it fun, mess with each other's hair. Braids, curlers...that sort of thing. ^_^
And you're NOT an idiot. O_O
Just keep the ball rolling, okay? Keep asking random questions to get her talking. That's what I find the most effective--small talk that gets the other person involved. :3 Their opinions on movies, books, celebrities, music, political/religious issues... (Just STAY AWAY from the weather. o_o That's too bland and inpersonal. You want them to feel good because they can say their opinion, BUT you don't want to interrogate them. XD Be sure to give YOUR opinions, too, or it makes them feel like you're grilling them.)
