Therefore I will randomly say this.
Quite a few years ago there was this kid I shall call C. He lived next door to me and was my bully. He used to throw rocks at me, and yes, they did hit me and it seriously hurt, and he even went as far as egging our house and screaming death threats at me.
So we moved away because of him.
But we stayed in the same town.
And guess who goes to the same school as me? ^o^
That's right. C. -.-

Same basic exact thing happened to me. :^| She changed schools one year, then I changed schools the next, and HELLO! There she was. In my class. SITTING AT THE SAME TABLE AS ME. e__o
I feel your pain.
My only advice is to be his polar opposite. No matter what he does, don't stop being nice to him. Compliment him on the little things. His shirt, his shoebox diorama, anything. Don't react negatively to his threats. If he needs help, be there to help him. I turned one of my absolute worst enemies into my best friend that way. (At the end, he even had a little crush on me.) Remember, fighting fire with fire never works--all it does is do more damage. You need to fight fire with water. ^_^
