The shadows bent to the apposing light of my candle. The firelight flickered softly through the cascading darkness. A sudden gust of wind brushed back my hair and made the tiny tongues of fire dancing across the wick of my candle fall and brighten, threatening to blow out. I glanced back at the painting. Those eyes still followed me, they're blank expressions sending chills up my spine. The stormy grey iris's seemed to shift colors -- from white to black to grey again.
