There's only one person who truly knows, and that is the InkMaster. A lonely spectre in a deserted hollow of this massive city, his decrepit mind has slowly crumbled into a leprous battlefield with hardly any traces of his dazzling intellect remaining. But his cunning had clung to his fragmenting mind, refusing to be destroyed by the afterlife. Instead, his soul acclimated, but barely. He is now crowned by insanity, ruling over his pathetic, bloody kingdom that exists only in the maze of his mind.
His psychosis scares me but is my emancipator at the same time. We are balanced in a tipsy scale of a relationship: I doubt that he can recall my name, but when he is visited by transient spurts of santiy, his advice is indispensable. The only one whose yellow eyes see, he lives in an old, broken-down cathedral. It resides in a strange, morbid glory between a few black, moldy buildings; between the slick, squalid ground and the gray, bleak sky.
I stumbled through the chilly muck to his home, shivering in the Spartan, unnatural cold.
I could hear the InkMaster long before I saw him. From inside the crumbling church, screeching howls preceded me. Several crashes and shatters rang like gunshots through the clammy air. I quickened my pace, a cobra of apprehension coiling in my guts. He was senile and egotistical but the closest to a friend that I had in this strange, savage world.
When I entered the church, trying to avoid the white marble that was slick with a tarry liquid, a metal candlestick hurled through the fetid air and crashed above my head.
That was a long excerpt from my book Cold Blood. I just felt like sharing my twisted imaginings. :p

He rmother had been against letting her go to her father's funeral-She wanted Tally to remember her father the way he looked when he was still healthy and alive-but Tally's aunt had convinced her mother to allow it. Now, hot, salty tears rolled down Tally's sunken cheeks. Her legs shook as she stood and wlaked up to the white, marble podium. She glanced at her father's casket, his sunken, hollow face, his open, vacant eyes, and felt a lump the size of an apple forming in her throat. She quickly forced it down, though. She wiped her tears away with the balck sleeve of her dress and cleared her throat. She took a deep breath and began her speech.

Layla stared at Gideon's twitching, bloody body in horror. How many times had she wished for Gideon's death? And now it had happened, right in front of her eyes, and she was grief-stricken and terrified. Perhaps part of it was that she had had to stand there, tied up and gagged, and watch it happen; Watch Gideon be tortured by Lissa and then stabbed to death by Kendell, and now stand here and watch his blood slowly drain from his body. The rough, thick ropes burned as they rubbed against Layla's bare arms and exposed legs and she could feel her throat tightening whenever she struggled to push the old, dirty gag out of her mouth with her tongue. Gideon lay in a pool of his own blood, his entire body shaking violently. Tears filled Laya's eyes as Gideon's glassy, green eyes rolled back into his head and the twitching and shaking ceased. The pool of blood was suddenly still, no longer being rippled by Gideon's shudders. The realization sunk into Laya's heart: Gideon was dead.

It all happened in an instant. One moment, he was standing there, laughing with his friends and eating ice cream, and the next, he was laying on the ground, which was suddenly colder than he imagined possible, feeling his life drain away from him. Distantly, he could hear shouts of fear, but, like a dream as you wake up, they were washed away. His life slowly drifted out of his hands.
That only took like a minute. Yay for ice cream! :D
