why do I always get attached to my worst idiot characters?
Antoinette Chives, Astrophel, this weirdo called Duncan from something else, THE LITERAL PERSONIFICATION OF FAILURE...

And now this little stuppid. Obnoxious chainsmoking commander of a cavalry in a civil war/revolution. He's disgusting. He literally ate a lizard, as in, picked it up off the ground and ate it. He's self-destructive and unstable and HE NEEDS PROTECTING FROM ALL THIS NONSENSE. But no. He shall suffer. Because plot demands it. Dammit.

Why isn't it the noble leader I'm attached to? Why doesn't his charismatic fanaticism draw me in? WHY IS IT THE WEIRDO GUY WITH BAD HYGIENE MY CHARACTERS MAN WHY DO I DO THIS TO THEM?

tell me about it. i enjoy torturing and killing off characters but i end up liking them so much it gets conflicting

on another note, my plotless story is going somewhere and the characters aren't bland and lifeless for once

But like, I have so much time for Zig because he's been through endless nonsense and his brother was murdered and the government were generally unjust to him. He's not stable, he has nightmares every night, he's got anger problems and can't cope with stress...

So this fascinating, complex character, how do I introduce him? He picks up a live lizard off the ground and eats it. Then lights up a cigarette BECAUSE HE IS TRASH.

I swear he's my favourite in this story idea he's a tiny little man, only 5'6'' and he gets into infinite fights. He's just...FIGHT ME BRO. Idiot.
