It wasn't that he didn't like contemporaries.

It was just that it wasn't his thing -- he couldn't relate to it like he could to a high fantasy novel or something to do with kings and queen assassins and faeries and the High Folk. All of those stories that acted like fairytales -- he wanted them to be true.

He wished and wished and truly wished upon a star, a nebula, a cluster -- but it wasn't enough.

It wasn't that he didn't like contemporaries.

It was just that he wished for the unusual.
