have you ever had a dream where you knew you were in a dream?

once i was dreaming that we had two cats and it was really vivid. and then i walked outside of my house into my backyard and then i saw all the chickens and turkeys and keets that we used to have that had gotten killed or sold or eaten.
but they were all alive in my dream. but not in a creepy sort of way
and then i stopped and was so confused
and then it hit me
i was in a dream for goodness sakes!
i was so dissapointed
