unshaven young adult, not a college man, still smart as a whip, wears straw hat, despite his shady looks has a rep for being trustworthy

he takes care of 4 kids

sammie, his own mute brother, who he learned sign language for and loves deeply
frankie, an adorable pure cinnamon roll with coffee colored skin who makes flower garlands
ivan, a touchy teenager who nonetheless trusts peter
cecil, ivan's baby brother who learns sign language from sammie and is altogether too smart and lacks too much caution for his own good

despite the fact that his Mom is a Snake and he had the sense to get himself and his brother away from her, he's still civil to her when he does see her
he's kind to other people, particularly anyone who he perceives to be having a hard time. he calls it like he sees it and is sometimes wiser than the 50 year old community leader David Corona, who trusted him with these children
he doesn't get money from his Mom, because between her and his absentee Pa, their old money has rather dried up
so he scrambles to make it work in the rigid li'l economy he lives in

his best fun is working hard with everyone's help and making it work
he has an unbreakable fiery spirit, which his brother learned and inherited from him

They are mirror images, similar in body and identical in mind, so that the only real difference between them is in what they choose to emphasize: respectively, fatalism and dynamism, fate and freedom, safety and fun, love and survival--they were so very brave and patient, morally reprehensible only by coercion, and death was their reward.

This is kinda random but I was looking at recent posts and came across this and I was like wOAh
I love that description so much and I like the idea of "identical in mind" even when they "emphasize" different ideas.
Are they part of a story of yours?

Kind of ! I was writing fanfiction! So these guys are my creation but they're based on pre-existing content: from Detroit: Become Human. I can't officially recommend the game due to swearing and other content but the implication that one of the main characters is the 51st android of his model, and that he might have the memories of the ones gone before, stuck with me like glue.

I wrote a happier version where a few of them survive and end up camping out in the woods, haha. It's called "the sixteen survived" and i posted it on here cuz it's my favorite content i wrote for the boys
