"What the..." Dust muttered, standing her ground as her eyebrows furrowed.
The girls shuffled back, scared.
The mist tilted its head back and screamed. Garbled voices mixed together into one agonized yell of rage.
Agent 4 clung onto her dualies.
It looked at the girls.
"RUN!" Maria screamed.
The group ran back down the hallway, bursting into their room.
"What in god's name was that?!" Dust screamed. "OUR BIGGEST THREAT WAS THAT GROUP TAKING OVER THE GOVERNMENT!"
Maria clutched onto the wall, forming back into her humanoid self.
Elizabeth looked out the shattered window. "Your guess is as good as mine."
Dust thought for a second. "Are any of you guys getting Armageddon vibes from this? I really don't know how to describe it."

“Never seen it� I said, breathing hard.
“Guys…� said agent four
“Never?� asked dust
“Guys…� said agent four, raising her voice. “I think something is happening.�
The mist was seeping in and the handle turned.
The mist covered the floor with a dull gray blanket. I changed back into a dragonwolf and pulled my wings around myself, biting the tip in anxiety.
The door splintered as if there was someone banging on the other side with a sledgehammer, but there was no sound other than the hiss of mist coming in.
Then the door shattered.

Maria screamed and backed up. The room turned cold, ice-cold.
Dust charged at the mist, her feet skidding on the aged rug.
Suddenly, the mist faded away. Nothing in sight.
"We've got to leave this hotel!" Dust yelled, looking back. "Listen, I know LA's not safe, but it's safer than this."
Elizabeth and Maria nodded.
"But how are we going to get out?" Maria asked, shrugging.
Dust looked out the window.
Elizabeth shook her head. "NO!"
Dust looked at 4. "We're not going to jump. I was just thinking."

“These whatever-you-callums are creepy,� I said
“I think they’re called Malums.� said 4
“You think the Malums are doing this?� asked dust.
“Anyway this place is creepy… aaaaaaaaaannnnd the mist is coming back.�
The cold fog began to pool around our ankles. I pulled my wings around me like a cloak and shivered. Then I heard heavy footsteps in the hall.
They were coming for the door.

Without a second thought, Maria dove out the window, Dust in her hand.
Air whooshed around her, emblazoning her hair. Dust screamed as the girls plummeted towards their doom-a doom if they were not quick enough. Quickly, she became a Dragonwolf and flew down the streets of Los Angeles.
4 inked the rug and dove out, slowly inching down the hotel where she had made a trail to ink on.
The girls met in the street.
Dust screamed, "Okay. This is serious! We need to contact the government!"
Elizabeth looked to the side. "They won't believe us. And the government is gone."
Maria almost cried, "We have no one to trust?!"
Elizabeth and Dust shook their heads.

“Welp, we’re alone then” I said.
In the silence that followed I could hear a window shattering in the now silent hotel. WE started running. A rail fence barred our way, but I flew over with dust and Four slipped through in her squid form.
“What the..” Dust muttered.
A thick fog had encased us and things looked more like an abandoned graveyard than the city.
A second fence, just like the first, barred our way and we did the same thing.
Then a third…
And a fourth..
After our fifth fence, Dust turned to me and Agent four. “Are we going in circles?” she asked.
I stopped and lifted my head in the air. “No,” I said. “My dragonwolf instincts say no”
“They could mess with your instincts”
“Who?”
“The ghost thingies.”
We stopped then, just before a sixth fence.
“Do you hear something?”
In a second they could hear it too.
“The mist is whispering again,” hissed Four

"We're screwed," growled Dust.
Maria and the group ran around in circles, never able to fully get away from the mist. It was a loop of madness and nothing else.
Suddenly, Dust couldn't catch up. The mist swirled around her legs, and she began levitating into the sky.
"No!" Elizabeth screamed.
Dust buckled back, her neck slowly creaking to the side. All of a sudden, it fell limp, upside down. But there was no blood in sight. Just cracks as Dust's limbs began snapping.
Without a second thought, Maria aimed for Dust.
Instantly, Dust restored back to normal, and Maria carried Dust to the ground. Instantly, the mist faded away. "Uuuuuuuugh..." she muttered. "What happened? What's going on?"
Maria looked at her. "We need to find something."
4 pointed at a car. "We could drive that."
Dust squealed, "Oooh! We can joyride!"
4's face lightened. "Actually...yeah! It's like that."
