Exclamation Babysitting Advice

Hey, so I have my first babysitting job tomorrow at 10:30 am. Its going to go through lunch well, the parents will be back at 1:00. I'm nervous, I went through the class, but I still don't know what to do. Any help?!? What should I bring to do with the kids? Should I bring anything? What questions should I ask about the girls I'm babysitting? I don't want to sound weird. I know the girls pretty well cause they are my neighbors.

I'm babysitting two girls age 9 and age 5.

They love barbies, monster high dolls, and littlest pet shops, they also love my ferrets (but I can't really bring them)

Should I bring a bunch of stuff like coloring pages or play with them with one of their toys. Also I was told to ask a bunch of questions, but they don't really seem necessary. What do you think???

Please help, Also do you bring a first aid kit? Please?

Okay recap questions

What items do you bring to your babysitting jobs?

What questions do you ask the parents?

Do you bring a first aid kit/emergency supplies when babysitting?

Is their any advice you want to give me?

Thanks!!! Please help!!

All right...lemme see. First, you HAVE to know the parents numbers, and the children's alergies, because you DO NOT want to have a 5 year old have a deadly allergy without you knowing. Next, bring things that you know they love, because 5-year olds and even 9-year olds can have very short attention spans. Make sure you know what they're allowed to do and stuff, and yes, do bring a First Aid kit, because you can never be too careful.

I'd say to play with them a lot, keep them entertained, you don't want them to be upset and say they didn't like it. Here are some questions to ask the parents
Is there anything I shouldn't let them touch?
What is you cell phone and work numbers?
What are they allergic to?
Have they eaten already, or do I need to feed them?
Are they allowed to have snacks while your gone?
So those are basic questions, now, if they have a pool, you should keep a closer eye on them, so you know if they are trying to go out into it, you wouldn't want them to drown. My friend filled a water bottle with glitter and food coloring, for her brother to play with, if he's in a bad mood. I bet you'll do great, and since your a writer, I bet you have a great imagination to play with them. Telling stories isn't a bad idea either, you could always tell them princess stories, and play pretend.

I hope I helped!!!! You'll do great!

I completely agree with Jean. Kiddies like visual aids, as well, like stories with pictures and stuff.

Right. I know your 1st babysitting job is over. but in case you babysit again;

Ask the parents if they have alierges, get the parents phone number and cell number.
Bring a first aid kit.
bring over some stuff see what they want to do. If they just dont want to do anything suggest somthing. Hope this helps.
