Meh, Dakota Fanning works, as long as they keep the eye makeup REALLY heavy.

Actually... I won't be seeing BDPt2 anyway, so... yeah...

Jane and Alec are probably the most awesome characters in the book. Volturi in general are epic.

I am not a fan of the Twilight series. At all.

I have also read the first book so I could have an actual opinion and not just an internet-and-harry-potter-intoxicated rant personality.

But turning the idea through my mind: a dark, vampire love story; Modernization of ancient horror lore; it fascinates me. I would love the story if Stephanie Meyer had focused more on the mythology of the vampire and the development of the characters, less on the shallow love triangle.

I could see myself in an alternate dimension with a shelf full of vampire novels. Each one won't be filled with pages of cross-breed kissing (and worse) however, but Edward and Bella (both two different people than I saw in the first book. Actually developed characters with a developed relationship.) trekking through the world outside of Forks (I'm not sure if there is anywhere besides there in the books either) following a intricate and imaginative plot that combines medeval folklore with the modern setting.

I am almost persuaded to write the book myself. If only I could go in the TARDIS laying around in my garage and beat Meyer to it, but alas, without Twilight there would be less people reading nowadays. The fact is, teenagers love cheesy no-plot-whatsoever paranormal love stories. And their parents do to.

I kinda trailed of in that last paragraph there, but you get the idea: I love the idea of Twilight, Loath the execution.
I completely agree. I read and watched Twilight, New Moon, and bits of Eclipse, but none of them were really good.

I do think Twilight could have been better with--what Dubloon said--more focus on the intricacy of the plot and characters than just "oh my I love him yet I love him what do????" In interviews with Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart, they were asked about how they executed the characters based on the book. Most people assume Kristin Stewart has no emotion and that Robert Pattinson is all dark and angsty, like they played Edward and Bella, but they just explained that that was how they saw their characters when they read the book--Edward, a self-hating virgin vampire, and Bella, a shallow, oh-poor-me dizty damsel. Sorry if I offended anyone there, but even the actors don't like Twilight.

Going back a few pages- Harry Potter was a brat to start with but aren't all twelve year olds... just a little? I mean, then he grew out of it and he was actually really awesome.
