Default New Contest!!!

I just thought of a cool writing contest. Pretend you are a blind girl/boy and you live on the streets in New York with you're mother. You're mother is deathly ill. What happen's next? You decide! It can be a short story or a chapter book. Submissions are due November 10, 2009. There are no prizes, just the satisfaction of winning.

Sounds good. Can there be any other people besides your mother? Like a cousin or sibling or something?

Sure. But they can't have much money because, well, you know, why would you be living on the streets if a relitive of yours has money?

Yeah. But the short stories are due September 20, 2009 so you'd better start writing!

I might enter. Can't promise though. But I've got a question. How do we write if we are a blind girl/boy? Thanks.

Put yourself in your character's position. It's not that hard, you just can't see, so you'd have to describe with your other senses. To make it easier, Saul, write in first person.

For example:

I was walking, listening to the sound of my footsteps against the sidewalk. The sound of the wind charging all around me, the cars battering me with assault after assault of rain water, not to mention the tiny missiles of rain that peppered my face, turning it numb with the cold.

I'll join!

A few (odd) questions;
1) Have they been blind all their life?
2) Can they have relatives/other characters that live on the streets with them?
