Is there anything in particular you want to know about Mel's family?
I have a basic idea of what her home life is like, and since she's a supporting character giving away details about her wouldn't spoil much of anything,

Well what was her home like? Would anything there have affected her being Mel, Kendall, or Lynn?

That's all words really and truly are.
But if that's what they are,
Then why do these "words" hurt so much?
Why?

Yeess probably. Ok, so she had a fairly normal home life until she was about 13, she had two working parents and an older brother who was in college, and her multiple personalities were toned down to the point where she didn't have a diagnosis yet and people just thought she had really intense mood swings.
Then her mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and her brother started using drugs.
Being Lynn became a coping mechanism (mainly when she was around her mother), and being Kendall became a defense/coping mechanism (mainly when she was around her brother), and the worsening of either family member aggravated her disorder until she was pretty much Lynn or Kendall 99% of the time.
Then her dad noticed and Mel was taken to a psychiatrist and got a diagnosis and medication, and everything is fairly controlled now.

sometimes in the middle of the night i edit GGS, i thought this new conversation between Koda and Ria from when they first meet might be appreciated;

Quote:
"She told me to cover my scars and she moved my stuff on purpose," Koda explains, "I screamed at her."

"Did you claw her eyes out?"

"No."

"That's a pity."

"The screaming?"

"The lack of eye-clawing."
